Samsung has released three compacts with a smattering of 'world's first' features. Top of the range is the ST1000, the first compact to offer a 3.5" touch screen LCD with 1.2 million dot (megadot?) resolution and multi-wireless connectivity. It features Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity allowing wirelessly connections to internet routers or DLNA compliant devices. Built-in GPS enables geo-tagging of images with location data. The camera, which uses MicroSD memory cards, also features built-in Intelli-Studio PC software to directly upload images online or e-mail them. The 12.1 MP camera also offers an optically stabilized 5x zoom lens (35-175mm equiv.) and HD video recording.

But if bluetooth camera to phone... I wonder if it would be resized in camera first, else it'd take quite a while.

has anyone actually purchased or seen this on market yet?
if yes, how much is it right now? RRP is 1249 but i am sure sellers can offer better.. but since it's so new, how much less?
plan to buy it over the weekend.

shinningteen, I have already posted a short review from CNET in the topic you created.

"Upside
Like the ST550, the ST500 features two screens. There's a small 1.5-inch LCD screen at front so that fervent party goers can snap themselves and their cadres without chopping off a face or accidentally photographing the weird dude in the background with a comb-over. The 4.6x optical zoom lens, from Schneider-Kreuznach, is mated to both optical and digital image stabilisation and feeds the world through to a 12.2-megapixel CCD sensor. Storage is provided via a small amount of built-in flash memory and a microSD card slot; video can be captured in HD at 720p.

Both models feature a tastefully tailored body — real metal at the back and piano black at the front — offset by a thin slither of coloured trim. Colour options on the ST500 are silver, red and blue, with only black, orange and purple available on the pricier sibling.

Downside
While all the image and video taking hardware is pilfered from the ST550, the cheaper ST500 makes do with a rear LCD touchscreen that's of both lower resolution (230,000-pixel versus 1.15-megapixel) and smaller size (3-inch versus 3.5-inch). It's also deeply inset, unlike the nearly-flush ST550 version, although it still has haptic feedback. There's also no mini-HDMI connectivity on the base of the ST500 either.

Outlook
The ST500 goes on sale in Australia in September for AU$449, but, even after only a short play with both, we feel safe to say that if you're tossing up between the ST500 and ST550, go for the latter: the ST550's larger, sharper screen is well worth the extra AU$50.".
