Hi currently connecting my ps3 to LG-42LG53FR ....via cheapo HDMI cable (braided though)

problem is i cant set max reso to 1080i only to 1080p.....

when i connect to 1080p...the screen will go blank (for testing) then only the the accept menu will come out n flicker for 1 second b4 return to the display menu..so means cant render at 1080p..........

what could possibly be the reason?..thanks

hi all.....

Beginner here..

I've read thru all the thread..& unfortunately got lost..so straight to the point here.

1) When I browse thru the XMB ...suddenly it went blank..after few second it shows back..then..it went blank again for few second..& this keep repeating itself until I got fed up & shutdown the system...but..
2) if I play BD..the above never happen..?
3) When I check the TV properties during BD playing..it shows 1080p + 24Hz..is this affecting the picture quality when I'm watching thru PS3? & not BD player?

Anyone can help me or advise me on what to do? your kind assisatance appreciated....

max res 1080i? 1080p is the max res for the lcd tv hence FullHD... misunderstanding here, 1080p > 1080i

for testing on 1080p, does the the xmb shown on tv? if yes, then save the setting.

the flicker is normal thing if u didnt select the intended res, will go back to default res.... 30sec for u to decide

having the same prob as econs here.. same TV model also

but if i use a non braided cheepoo cable, i can see the xmb in 1080p but its full of static interference (will post pic later)

however changing down 720p or 1080i solves this.

*note: using ps3 slim.

There is another forumer who had this problem.

Turns out it was due to the crapload of AV equipment he had nearby (interference).

He bought a Monster Gamelink from DigitalTech and his problem left him smile.gif

yup most likely a problem with cable

some cheap hdmi cables (especially the long ones) cant carry 1080p signal properly

thks for the input... but here's the kicker:

using the same cable on my ps3 phat has no problem what so ever...

and my hdmi cable is just 2m in length...

anyway anyone here kind enough to borrow me a monster cable just to test this theory out? notworthy.gif
