its a free world, they arent causing any harm to anyone. whats the fuss? /shrug

have you even read through the 3 pages of that article you linked? its all right there.
*

Yes, I finish it.

But doesn't anyone find that otaku situation sad? Not to mention a little freaky. Its one thing if you have one of those thing at home for private use but bringing them out to a restaurant?

Yes, its not harming anyone directly, but this kinda thing affects people mentality. In other countries, this kinda case might just be one or two case. In Japan, its a growing trend! It might not be long before an entire subculture of people void of social interaction with the other gender appears. Right there it says 50% don't have friends with the other gender. Its not just a silly reporter exagerating things, this kinda are real!

Think about it for awhile, instead of just shrugging it off just like that.

QUOTE(sgwc @ Jul 24 2009, 11:51 AM)
Well, whenever i go to a cafeteria and saw people reading newspapers; they sometimes say 'asyik asyik kes rogol, takde kes lain ke?' which makes me think that people are already think that it is normal.
*

that's why u need to take it on the different approach. you can't just simply take it as a whole opinion. not all malaysian thinks the same. it maybe normal when it happen in KL, where most girl nowdays prefer almost nekkid attire then blame others for raping them later. so there goes the reason why ... isn't it easier if u wear less nekkid tanktop or you body will be visible to naked eye-typed of attire? while if the rape case happen in rural areas like baling, kedah. u can get killed even before the authorities captured u soon. for those who lived there, rape case should never happen there. the girls never wore almost nekkid attire where they can get caught easily by common villagers. the seriousness of taking the case as u can see here, is different.

back to the topic, we otaku (if u considered yourself as one) know what is right and what is wrong.

- otaku is basically a culture, and to some, even regarded as a religion

- in modern world mindset, homosexuality is fine. and is proven to not spread aids (shrug) by just being homosexual.

of course, im an atheist and thus i am not restricted by religion in my thinking and therefore making such statements as i am now.
*

yeah agreed bro. there's nothing wrong being a decent otaku. it's just u

for you gay culture is safe. but it's no for me.
that's why like we discuss here, as long as u didn't brought massive damage to the country, u are free to practice what u want.

QUOTE(sgwc @ Jul 24 2009, 12:00 PM)

it's because u never met one. this is the reality. female otaku was hidden behind normal malaysian girl. same like otaku that hides behind black suited dress in big office.

ha ah. hanya kerana dalam /as/ tak ramai otaku pompuan tak semestinya otaku pompuan is small in number kat malaysia nih. pada pompuan, anime hanyalah hobi bukan trend. benda ni kalau jadi trend bila ko nampak tetiba ada aweks pakai nagato punya seifuku kat tengah tengah bukit bintang. of cos kalau nak cari yg pakai seifuku berlambak kat anime convention related event

sad? perhaps. but if he prefers 2D, or same sex in the case of homosexuality, what does it have to do with YOU? freaky also, its not harming you right?

and ive said, it, it may work in japan, but it may not work anywhere else. and the article is pointing towards japan, not malaysia. so what does that bother you?

again, 50% people (no solid researched statistics, mind you. the actual reports are much lower than 50%) not having proper social interaction is happening in japan, not malaysia. and quite frankly, the world is overpopulated as it is. this is in a way, good.

YOU should be the person thinking about it instead of taking things WAY too seriously/personally. furthermore, how does this news even involves YOU? tell me about that then.

Today's Star newspaper got an article and news of a man wearing nothing but his undies and playing a guitar. He's running to be the mayor of New York.

The world has bigger problems than anime-fixation.

I am not the one taking it way too seriously. I am discussing it on a forum. Not flying to Japan to stop him. Pray tell how is discussing things on a forum is taking things too seriously? And just because it doesn't involve me, does that mean I can't find discuss it? What logic is that?

Btw, homosexuality is not freaky (at least to me, cause I believe its natural for them), but this is different. People avoiding interaction with the opposite gender (that they are attracted to), and replacing them with an inanimate object is downright ... whacked.

we didn't take this topic seriously at all. we just gave our logic on what is on our thoughts.

for your info, this topic has repeatedly discussed over more than a year in here. in the end nobody's winning. it involves u indirectly before u know it when u brought up this matter upper hand. if it didn't involved u directly, u wouldn't ended up posting the topic here. i don't know if u know about sankakucomplex or not, but i u didn't u can try read news there. it's all roundup news on otakuism and anime related that's covered not just japan, but also malaysia.

lucky for you mod didn't close this topic.
