If I'm not mistaken, it's a Toshiba Satellite M50 (laptop not mine, unsure). Pressing the "power" button equals to nothing. There is no response at all. The led did light up when I plug the AC, but that's all.

My mom use it for dramas. The night before, my mom use it as usual, then shutdown and went to bed. My aunt says there are still light from the laptop but I didn't bother her (lol). Any chances that my mom didn't shut it down properly and it overheats? It's placed in an aircond room anyways.

plug in AC charge few minutes and press power button again. Maybe battery is flat already. (not properly shut down and battery runs flat).

you aunt said still got light - but shouldn't have light if properly shut down.

there's a popular problem with toshiba laptop (that i've come across) that had to do with its screen.

are you sure it didn't start? i had the same problem last year with my customers and what happen is, their laptop did start but the screen is too damn dim for our eyes to catch anything.

if that's the case, you might want to ask around about screen inverter

two laptop of mine had this prob too.. only charge light works. system does not even turn ON.
I could feel one part of the mobo overheating (not hdd).

I suspected the mobo was dead and the laptop was out of warranty so I got a new one tongue.gif

try take out battery & ac first, press and hold power button for 10sec, replace AC but battery out and try turn on button.
anyhow, if yours is still under warranty you will need to find the time go and send to toshiba bro..

I forgot to tell, the laptop has trouble shutting down since days ago. It will reach to a stage where only the blue screen and cursor is there and will stuck there. No warranty. Where should I send it to?

Update: Wow, followed the "plug out AC and battery, hold power button for 10 seconds, then plug AC only" and it works! After booting up, it says it had install a hardware and had problem installing previously, something like that, couldn't recall the exact wordings.

Is it all fine now or I should do something extra to make sure it won't fall into that shit again?

Thanks all of you smile.gif

Battery life doesn't matter anymore, too old to rely it for serious work, that's why it's in my mom's hands now for her soaps. tongue.gif

What do the "plug everything out hold power button" step do? Why doing so will get it alive again?

its hard to shut down normally because of your windows registry corrupt. Most ppl will use their most logical senses to fix this problem via pressing power on/off button for few seconds to force shut down it. Thus it shocks the harddisk and damage the platter and create bad sector. Changed new harddisk , of coz got fresh installation of windows and registry clean again, thus no more problems, as time passes by, the registry will become corrupt again and hard to shut down again.thus making this scenario all over again. Therefore no matter how many harddisk you buy or what laptop you buy also problem still persist because the root cause of the problem is the user him/herself. The matter in fact is not about Toshiba or not Toshiba brand .

I attached a batch file for you guys if you find that when you click shutdown on your machine, it hangs there and refuse to power off by itself. However use at your own risk and i only tried it in windows XP. It is tested in corporate environment so far.
