Dear Bro and Sis,

We all should receive before email like "IF you fowarded the email, AOL will agree contribute 5 cents for every time it fowarded"
Can anyone advise me, how does it keep track? I means the way they capture the fowarded times.

Appreciate if you guys can advise me.

Thanks in advanced.

the chain mail is purposefully created for wasting bandwidth and gullible's time, in this case, your time.

not sure about the credibility of the child's case

but for the following reasons:

"every mail sent will contribute 1/2/3/4/5 cents"
"bill gates will share his fortune"
"free laptops, free iphone, free ipod"
"chinese villagers eat girls"

and all sort of bizzare chain mail, the answer is a very very definitely "YES"

and everybody seems to believe what they seen on the internet shakehead.gif
you should aware that even the newspapers that been carefully observed are sometimes misleading and misinforming
if you can't trust the printed media, would you believe the internet 100% ?

This kind of chain email has been around for a very long time. The answer was ... Due to the way email works, it is not possible for AOL, Bill Gates, or anyone elsse to track how many people have received the forwarded email.

However, technology has advanced. It is now possible to detect when someone opens the email. It has been possible for many years. All you have to do is include a web bug in the email. This is not 100% reliable though. Some email clients do not show HTML, or show HTML but do not retrieve linked items on the Internet (this is to reduce the chance of bing infected by worms and virii).

Nevertheless, the claim is still false. There is no reason for Bill Gates to donate 5 cents for every copy of the email distributed. If he were to do this, it will generate a huge surge of emails, that will overwhelm the Internet, and bring hiim lots of bad publicity. He'll just write a cheque from his foundation instead.
