This little guy is the Cool Drive U360 and it allows two computers to connect via USB and the mini USB port.

The flash drive comes pre-installed with software that allows both computers to browse the other’s shared drives and also allows for synchronisation of certain folders and even Outlook data.

It comes in a range of sizes from 4Gb to 16Gb and claims a transfer speed of 21Mb/sec. The Cool Drive works with everything from Windows ME to Vista and surprisingly it also works with Macs, OS 10.1 and up.

how practical can this be? both the pc need 2 b next 2 each other?

share using network is much easier and can reach multiple user as long as network connected biggrin.gif

this is like some mini-centralized storage for 2 pcs next 2 each other

usb has got limitations u know

Just share files? how bout playing games like dota?

sounds a little impractical.. network/wifi sharing is much much more better IMHO..

Wait. There's one nagging question, do file transfers between the two systems using the thumbdrive as a medium will need a double transfer? i.e: System 1 -> Thumbdrive. Thumbdrive -> System 2.

I think they should elaborate more on the feature below:
QUOTE
bi-direction data flow functionality offers never seen before convenience over USB flash drive or portable hard drive for data transfers between two computers.

Err...
Still don't find it anything very special about it compared to network system.

Except for when you need to transfer files and don't have an additional network port.
But then you will then need to turn on 2 PCs at the same time to transfer files.
If it's a laptop, then you'll need to make sure it has enough battery before the transfer is complete. Or to make sure the 4 parts (2 computers, 1 dongle, 1 cable) stays securely connected with no loose ports... Which makes portable drives a more logical choice in this sense since most of them do come with Drive and mail sync features as well and as a plus, encryption as well!

Now... If this thing works wirelessly, then it'll be something...

so, portable drives:

a) doesn't need to have secure connection with no loose ports? isn't portable drives using USB, same as PQI's U360? rclxub.gif
b) doesn't need the laptop to have enough battery before the transfer is complete? rclxub.gif
