I am learning how to make a small favicon 16 x 16 size image for blog,
but after I save the file in .ico format, the image size is very big about (22kb size).
How can I make it to become smaller like 4kb or 1kb something so that it can load faster? Using photoshop?

What ? Your ICO file is that big?
Weird, it shouldn't be that big. Check if it's 16x16

I always use Favicon Generator from Dynamic Drive; perfect service:

http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/

I've tested it a lot. Simply make your 16x16 image in cs3 orso, and save it as a png...(if you would like a transparant favicon..)...

if you use photoshop then use .ico file format plugins.
eg. you can dload here : http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Gr...le-format.shtml

download it, extract and copy to your 'file format' in your photoshop plugins folder.

then you can have 16x16 photoshop image save in .ico.
