i suggest you test your 4870 out first.
they may have fixed the problem after so long.

gainward looks good like the iceq anyway, its just those like powercolor which has 1 giant fan that needs a battle axe..

QUOTE(VinluV @ Jun 28 2009, 11:46 AM)
i had the iceq 4870 1st, had no heat problems, even left the fan at 40% speed when not Oc or gaming.

1st time i'm trying the HIS big fan from boon. will get it have a look then leave a small review here.
the most i can foresee is that you have to reapply thermal tape on the chips, which is about RM15.

btw i just saw manli HD4870 1GB DDR5 for RM520
do you have heat issues? is the gpu too hot?
you can try to reduce the fan speed, that would make it not sound like a jet engine.

nope... doesnt hv heat issue...it sounds like 'tik tik tik' continously..

directx 11 is just another big word smile.gif. current game only use directx10. directx 11 is future. by that time, there are new model for ATI and if u want to show off then buy the newest one haha. dont worry, just buy the 4800 series or 4900 series

either..

1) you messed up fan profile via CCC/3rd Party tools (such as RivaTuner/ATITools)
2) Your fan dead.

For those who never knew and for those to refresh their knowledge...

HIS:
Unless u want to go for the IceQ one, no point chosing HIS
Leadtek:
Nvidia-only manufactor, their stuff quality is high
Galaxy:
Reference Card producer for nVidia
GeCube:
Reference Card producer for ATi
Gigabyte:
High quality component + software to oc and monitor.
XFX:
Normal quality stuff with great design
ZoTac:
Known for oced card, nothing special for normal one.
Gainward:
Known for "golden sample" good price for oced card
Manli:
New competitor, offer nice price with good cooling, quality is moderate only
ASUS:
High quality + good design + ok-ok cooling = very high price
Palit:
Best bargain for normal quality + nice price
Sapphire:
Nice quality, nice price
Powercolor:
Low quality = low price
MSI:
Hardly available, 'random' quality
