a bulge has appeared out of nowhere on my left hand this evening while i was having my dinner.
i was eating and suddenly i noticed it was there on my left hand. it wasn't there the whole day before so i assume it juz popped up suddenly

here is how it looks like:

various angle.

It doesn't itch, it doesn't hurt, even if i push it down or move it around, or twist my hand up and down.
It feels solid, but still movable underneath the skin, maybe like a overloaded vein or something like that.

my dad says it'll disappear over time, and to just leave it alone.
hence no doc visit =\

still worried tho, does anyone know what on earth is this????

Ignoring bulges are usually not a good idea, especially if it's that big.

Go and check with a doctor in case it's a tumour. Mind you, not all tumours are cancerous but they can become a health problem in the future.

And that is a huge bump to ignore. tongue.gif

was yours on the same or similar spot on the hand as mine when it came out?
how long did it lasts before it disappeared?

Yea it's huge, the size of a 10 cent coin for god sake =(
probably gonna leave it alone for 1 or 2 days, if it doesn't disappear then will go see a doctor.

Thx for the info.
I've found out about it myself this morning while randomly googling for its symptoms, and it's indeed ganglion.

hmm.. i was going to say something like lipoma but it seems that the ganglion cyst looks very similar to ur hands... then i dont think it will disappear over time, u'll have to remove it surgically. if it doesnt interfere with ur life and work, and u're scared of surgery, then u could just leave it like that. but it's still best to go for a checkup. dont worry, the doctor wont force u to remove it or anything, the decision is up to u. just go and see what his opinions are.

Well this morning, I technically "removed" it all by myself.
I searched around for cures for ganglion on the net, and I came by this method of rupturing the ganglion by hitting it with a hard surface such as a hard cover book, and that was exactly what I did. Hit myself on the hand with a book.

Ganglion is also referred to as "Bible's Bump" in the west. This is because in the west even if how poor a family is, there would still be a Bible in their house. And whenever someone has a ganglion, they would just hit it hard with the Bible and it would disappear.

I didn't use a Bible, but my gigantic Oxford Concise Dictionary did the job, and this method helped me to get rid of it. smile.gif

You risk further injury to your wrist that way. Or maybe what it meant by "dissapear" is the whole hand (including the ganglion part) suddenly "torn off" and flung out ? LOL.

I shall use the most popular phrase in this subforum:

"Go see a Doctor"

LOL yes out of curiosity I tried that method. I didn't hit it really that hard, was just something like a sharp accurate stab on that round bulge with the face of the book. At first I was scared that it would injured me, so started off rather timidly and hit myself like a sissy =\

The 3rd effort i coughed up all my courage and hit somewhat faster and harder, then it just happened. No sound no pain, but can feel there's some changes on the ganglion bump, massaged it and subsequently it disappeared from under the skin.

Was kinda desperate cause was going to play some futsal matches this evening and thought that the bulge sticking out of my arm would be really troublesome, so tried doing that since it was really simple.

Well it did go away, hence no complains biggrin.gif
