@hades86
yup from maxis bill.. can log in to maxis website and check.. mine shows like below. not sure where the 4 cents coming from but could be from before I'm on the iValue plan.

@loumou
do you have push and notification turned on? that could be onr reason why your data count keep increasing.. I suggest you consider using fake APN. But, if you have push and notification turned on and using fakeAPN at the same time, your battery could possibly drain faster..

@loumou,
If you're using a Maxis SIM U will not see the APN settings; please go to the thread as provided by saksoba to learn more about turning of EDGE:
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/868281

@wintzen,
Any apps that connects U to data will contribute to your 100MB.

Personally I'm a victims.

There is no way to turn off 3G or edge in the iPhone. According to Maxis customer support manager, Apple iPhone design such a way which data go first and probably you can turn on Airplane mode.

The only thing you can do is call up Telco helpdesk and request for turn off edge, 3G and blacklisted ur phone number for 3G and Edge access. Previously I did that b4 but somehow I will not able subscribe to per hour or per day internet access (Maxis).

Hope this is clear.

Is it true?

I don't have any problem to turn off 3G and Edge for iPhone. All I need to do is, from SBSetting, just off 3G and Edge toggle. It works for me. Plus, I still can subscribe for hour/day mobile Internet. Just turn on the 3G and Edge. icon_rolleyes.gif

@saksoba,
I apparently read some forummers are having such issues; am not sure if it's a "real" issue or they just don't know how to switch off the APN.

I've not had problems switching APN off even on a non jailbroken set smile.gif

thanks for the reply but i already triple check my bill and it doesnt show the usage. the obvious reason i could think of is probably the unlimited data plan i take.

@hades86,
Yes - if you're on the Unlimited plan, your total data is not shown.

Might be.

As per tinkerbel said, non jb set also can. I assume, APN editing.

You can try both ways and find out which one is work for you. biggrin.gif

@saksoba,
If you're on a Maxis SIM U will need to just create a fake APN profile; won't be able to edit APN cause no APN function tongue.gif

@wintzen
my typical daily usage like below, i basically have two "profiles.

1. Outside: Wifi off, fakeAPN off
mostly browse internet - read thestar, utusan, forums, facebook, gmail etc.

2. At Home: Wifi on, fakeAPN on
downloading apps, youtube video (using MxTube)

I always leave 3G and Edge - ON (SBSetting). So far, using fakeAPN is enough to stop my cellular data.
Oh, I also replace the standard "hosts" file to prevent Ads from loading. So far makes my internet surfing faster..

@hk_loo,
Because these people aren't subscribed to data services and don't intend to hence in order to avoid paying for data services they disable EDGE smile.gif

Maybe they want the 3G, EDGE capability but the 3G is on all the time for some reasons such as push notification and stuff which will result in expected phone bill by end of the month.
