btw, get a flash first.. either 3rd party cybertik mz45 or nissin or nikon sb600 which is more costly.

the 17-50mm tamron is worth for the money.

Though shooting at f2.8 in the zoom range would be my choice...

LOL. There will be huge difference between these two lenses. You can't compare them both and of course the f/2.8 fare better.

user posted image

please read previous pages lar doh.gif .. Nikon made three 18-55 lens.

1. AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED
2. AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II
3. AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR

NEW STOCK of D60 from NIKON MALAYSIA has the no.2 lens.

OLDER STOCK BEFORE D5000 came out has the VR lens.
NEW STOCK about a few weeks before D5000 came out has EDII version.
D5000 now has the 18-55 VR lens version.

Price of dslr has risen but still can get the new stock of D60 under RM2k. Just to remind everybody, this bag comes with a very spacious Leather Nikon Professional sling bag.

oh, cant imagine Nikon change the kit lens for D60..
May be the cheaper price of the lens is compensated by the more pricey leather bag, so the price is still the same

need to google yourself but from what i've read ED II is better than ED.

but from what i've read in kenrockwell's review, VR has the same performance with ED II except when shooting between 1/2 and 1/30 of a second. then VR makes a difference.

I would rather choose a better lens than a leather bag.

ED II first introduced with D40, while ED comes with D50. if u see thoroughly the lens, i think the design/pattern is lil bit different.

btw, never shoot with D50 + ED before,so i cant comment anything bout the quality. 2 cents
