Why do i sense that AlphaCompany is asking questions to which he already knows the answer tongue.gif ??

i dont know..im not a flash sifu

i just want to know and learn how to take portraits with sb600/sb900 flash bounced on ceiling and at the same time also using white card (to avoid panda eyes-shadows under the eyes and chin)..

i know the setup to this but how to quickly change to shooting landscape without the fuss of adjusting the whitecard to horizontal again. should i just use the diffuser and not use the white card at all?

I think indirectly you were finding answer whether to change system. Seriously, if you think Alpha is better, then go for it! After all, the camera is as good as the person clicking the shutter. There's no saying that Nikon the best. And Sony's flash really poisoning.

And I apologize if I take your words wrong. It's just my assumption after all.

no la.. i want to learn how to use an SB600/SB900 effectively to produce a similar flash result. im doing weddings here and there and my skills are still lacking in terms of using the flash effectively in portrait shoots..

d90 nice what..nice collection of lens.. alpha still lacking in that..

d90 - great performance in high iso.

guys,

i initially planned to get my second lens but after considering, i'll rather get a flash unit first.

what sb900 offers that sb800 doesn't have?
average price for sb900?

may be these could help?

just read in the kenrockwell

here what he said,

I wouldn't buy a D60 or a D40x. I would buy, and actually did buy, the superior and least expensive D40, which today sells for only about $470 complete with an absolutely excellent non-VR lens. The least expensive D40 has twice the sensitivity to light (ISO 200 base vs. ISO 100 base) and over twice the flash sync speed (1/500 vs. 1/200). The other features, like pixels and dust reduction, are just fluff. I've never had a dirt problem with my D40, and I change lenses a lot and have made 25,000 shots on my D40.

Megapixels have nothing to do with picture quality. The less expensive D40 is the same thing as the D60, but better. The D40 is the professional's vacation camera. It's what I take when I'm on vacation or with family, too.

The D60 exists to allow Nikon to sell a camera in the $750 price range to less experienced people who feel better spending $750 on a camera than spending $470 on the superior D40. If you're smart enough to be researching cameras from people like me who are here to help you instead of trying to sell you an expensive camera, just get the D40.

so it just up to you then to decide what best for you...do some research before thought of buying
hahaha
apparently i was a d60 user..but what the heck , i love and enjoy my camera dude!!! laugh.gif

cant deny that the alpha system is still lacking in lens-upgrade thinggy..
but the cobra does really tempting.. laugh.gif

i think u'll be fine if u bounce the flash head correctly-positioned to the ceiling.. ya it takes a while to get better diffused light if the house's roof isnt the same all time like weddings. experience will slowly comes rclxms.gif

u sifu d300 user.. u know better than me & u also have sb900.. so what do u recommend?

i wanna get a d90. Kit or body only? Purpose : travel and also weddings. What lens do u recommend?

Should i get 2 SB600 OR just 1 SB900 OR 1 SB600 + other accs like battery, memory card + lens

Im thinking this..

-get a D90 kit because 18105VR i can take both weddings and also can be used for an all around lens for travelling.
-get one SB600 and spend the extra money on memory cards and an extra battery
-get that cheap 50mm 1.8D + raynox..the lens around rm400 and below right? and this loens can do macro with raynox kan?

I think it is a good idea to go for D90 with kit lens. Most lenses work with Raynox. There is another solution for close up work which is an extension tube (Kenko) which you can mount behind the lens rather than in front of it. 2 SB 600 is ok also b'cos you have the built in CLS trigger with D90. Also, it is good to keep a spare flash if you are doing weddings/events or also can consider getting 1 SB 600 and use the Cybertik as a slave.

i'm still green with nikon sweat.gif

ya, suggested u go with the D90 kit, since its kitlens have the variable range, from wide to zoom all way to 105. so it should do a good job when ur travelling.

the 50mm 1.8 is cheap compared to 1.4 version u're gonna love it if u're a bokeh lover, it can create sharp pics too..

Hi guys.. did any of you go to today and yesterday's biggest event at Bukit Jalil - Cheer 2009? I went there with my school's supporter team (which I am proud to say bagged champion, best makeup and best supporters tongue.gif). Yesterday not too many ppl, but today since its sunday alot of outsiders came in to 'see the girls'.

Because of this alot of nice vantage points were taken, and this is where my 18-200VR kicks in.. more often than not it provides me the view I want, from a distance.

BTW.. I lost my Lambency flash diffuser. If anyone here attends it and happens to pick it up or knows someone who did, I'd like to have it back. AFAIK I am the only one there with a 'mangkuk' flash diffuser. In case it helps (and make the post more panjang), it has a blue wristband wrapped around it's neck - which failed to keep it in place on my flash gun, resulting in its lost while we were pushing through crowds.

Also, there was another event right outside the Stadium Putra.. RMR (Retro Malaysian Riders) have a variety of contests for owners with vintage/old motorbikes. It was quite interesting, but sadly lacked publing viewing. I was the only one browsing through the neatly-lined up motorbikes..

Different function..... 50 (x1.5 = 75) on a DX is about 2x of 35. 50mm is more of a "portrait" lens. With Tamron SP90 macro + teleconverter these 3 lenses will make a very useful range from 35 to 270mm.
