hello people i need to decide to choose UM or UTP
i got scholarship for UTP doing chem engineering
BUT i dont wanna go its like helll far from town
and i think im not going to get a good life there
whereas UM its in the TOWN and if i can control and maintain my education i can enjoy as well
for me i think life is not all bout studies
i maybe will be getting good future later in utp
but 4 years in hell and go out , you already old
people said campus life where u enjoy most in ur life
later u work theres no more of this crap
so people whom had study in UM or utp
please give your 2cents
its very hard for me to make a decision
im a type of person who likes to play and do well in studies
im a musician i like sports and social
so maybe if i go UM i get all of this
but my future is not confirm
if i go utp
ima be a study robot
and i hate that

I'd opt for UTP.. it has high reputation.. and man.. now is the critical stage.. u wanna be succesfull and enjoy in life.. it starts now.. u got UTP scholarship rite?? the offer is better den JPA bro.. n job with petronas.. very HIGH salary.. lol.. i've known some ppl getting 5 figures for it.. haha.. but their work.. is tough.. oil rig.. going for meeting etc.. its not easy.. but good..

haha.. my verdict.. UTP.. woo.. my dream uni.. haha.. but i din get it.. sad..

UTP is the university offering the best chemical engineering course in Malaysia, in UTP, you will expose well to the oil and gas field, which is the main highest salary career u want to be employed for all the chemical engineering graduate. UTP has the best facility and good chemical engineering lectures for you. Plus, UTP offers 8 months internship whereas IPTA only 2 months, oil and gas MNC quite favourable to UTP chemical engineering graduates. UTP is such a good university that it has a very good relationship to the petrochemical MNC , at so, their syllabus is aimed to produce a really “ENGINEER” student. (It is also due to UTP is founded by Petronas, the Malaysia petroleum giant)

But, nevertheless, UTP is situated at the not tat so developed area in Perak, so don’t expect too much entertainment at there. And I don’t think so you can experienced what we call the “University Life” in UTP when you compared UTP to the major IPTA such as UM,UKM,USM …etc. University life in IPTA is fulled with freedom and challenge, you must balance up you time and efforts in studying and organizing activities. In IPTA, the most important slogan we have is “PLAY HARD, STUDY SMART”, as university life is your last schooling life already. So we must cherish this opportunity to build up a good memory for our university memory. I am not saying that studying in UTP, you won’t get such experience. However, when you compared to IPTA, studying in UTP is relatively boring…

In conclusion,
IPTA ( UM, UKM… )
Pro : Learning Independent, Freedom, enjoy university life…

UTP
Pro : Best facility, good chemical engineering lecturer, 8 months internship=good career for you, oil and gas favorable university
Con : Boring lifestyle

It’s just my 2 cents. I am not a UTP student, but a UMS (Sabah University) chemical engineering undergraduate. Just want to share my opinions about this topics to you. Hope u will like it.

Do the course you like.
But if you are given a scholarship, you should accept it unless you really hate it.
I feel if one's first choice is Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering is okay for him/her as well unless the person wants the nature of being a pharmacist.
Well, both study about Chemistry.

UTP good for study only.
entertainment? LOL. the U is situated in nowhere near tronoh, very hot and dry place. there is no shop within 5km of the U

but once you come out, you are damn valuable. salary very high, but you nid to sacrifice ur 'college/U life'

UM is good for sains also right?

U go UTP with scholarship, u finish study can marry ad coz there aren't much thing you can do there..

But if u go UM, even with scholarship, believe me it won't enough if you enjoying your life there.. UM is in the city and there so many thing that you can do there..

98% concentration on Study - go for UTP
more percentage on entertainment - go for UM

I myself got scholarship for UTP and MMU, but I go for MMU because I don't want to stay in Tronoh.

UTP la bro.. although it is not near to the hip town like in kl but u r quite near to langkawi where it is the island of free tax.. u can do something there is u noe wat i mean.. u wanna enjoy 4 year of ur life or the rest of ur life? work 1st then play..

but life only once and the play i get after U is not the same anymore u know wat i mean?
my high school sucked ed
my dream is to get a cool college life
but yeah anyone can give advantage studying in UM?

normally its 4 years, so chosen UTP huh?
both UTP and UM are good, but in terms of education I think UTP sounds better

eh if you're fresh from SPM, maybe its 5 years.. (foundation 1year + degree 4years)
