But I beg to differ as not everyone watch football will also like to watch Nat-Geo (Learning packages) or entertainment package or the Movies channels. There are many other people who subcribe Astro not for EPL.

With a competitors, Astro have to "continuously listen" to the public, the demand and force to improve further.

Example: maybe Astro will get the EPL but not the Discovery or HBO and this leave some options for Malaysian people get to enjoy cheaper or HD quality TV with different provider!

It is not true that one channels limited to one broadcaster, but only in some "protectnism" country like MY!

That MY never improve or "open up" in term of getting cheaper products for the MY people.

QUOTE(SiriuslyCold @ Nov 5 2009, 03:51 PM)
there's EPL, Spanish league, Italian league, German league, Asian football, golf, tennis, F1, Moto GP... if you pay for EPL the rest considered free, no?

so add up those total for going to mamak

then there's Nat Geo, Discovery, History, travel etc which mamak may not turn on for

For those who wish there's competition - look at what happened in Singapore - EPL now with Singtel, and other sports channel with Starhub. What competition? now have to get two decoders from two different monopolies.

Because of the nature of live broadcasting there can be only one broadcaster, so even if we have 5 satellite TV providers, only one will win the bid for broadcasting EPL. Chances are it will be the most expensive to subscribe.

And next year there's World Cup... again going to be one winning broadcaster per country. if we had five providers, we'd need five accounts....

I think Astro may sell the HD decoder at a lower price , but impose a high monthly fee. Just like right now the dish and decoder is "free" but payable as part of monthly fee.

Introduce another premium service but still unwilling to improve on its basic service. Certainly shows what kind of company A$TRO is.

I just want to know, incase ASTRUK decided to beem HD quality pictures within next few years, what do we need to change other than the decoder.

What's the suitable cable for it?

Because, if possible, i want my not yet completed house, be ready for it, in terms of laying HD-ready cable within the wall, so later no need to hack my wall again...

ok, from what i read, u need to lay RG6/11 cable, preferable two cable, from your proposed satellite dish location to your decoder location. from decoder to tv, use HDMI most probably..

I have seen some RG6 3GHz cables selling in the market. Price is around RM3xx for 1000ft.

If u have no clue where to look for the cable, PM me for the contact. BTW I am not associate with the dealer.

If you had lay good conduit pipes of at least an inch in diameter than there is no need to hack the wall again.
You are able to pull the cables thru any time, or upgrade or service faulty cables. Just make sure the contractor fix the corners and bends properly.
