Im am a streamyx user and to setup a router with ADSL modem is pretty easy by just enable the DHCP on routher and BRIDGE the ADSL modem(assume my ADSL modem is built with router).
Problem comes when Im trying to setup the same concept on P1 Wimax. This is due to P1 does not require username and password to dial to get our connection so settting my router to PPPoE does not work.

In my current setting, since both router and P1 does have DHCP server function, and therefore I've/must disabled one of the DHCP which is on the router side. According to my experience, my default gateway of my pc should be the ip of my DHCP server. One thing weird is, my desktop's default gateway showing the ip of my router and laptop appears to have the correct default gateway which is the P1(DHCP enabled). I could not get any explanation base on my experience, yes i m still noob on this, why does this happens? any theory behind this?

For temporary solution, i try to set my default LAN setting manually which my default gateway is set to my P1. Yes it works but weird.
Im not sure why but i did a simple test, i did some ping to google.com with both PC at the same time.Whenever the time I try to ping google.com with my desktop, my laptop's ping returns failed result, vise versa. So i suspect, i try to make a guess, the connection will be occupied by one PC at 1 time which the connection is not share simultaneously. So to prove this is untrue, i tried to sign in MSN messenger with both PC and both of the PC is able to get online at the same time, which it proves my guessing was wrong.

Until a few minutes later, i asked my friend to try to surf net normally with the desktop, and i myself with the laptop. Both working fine and normal. I could not get any explanation on this circumstances.
Yes the solution is working if i set my LAN setting manually. But this does not satisfy me cuz, what if i have a thousand computer to share the connection, it not a good idea to do manually setting. I do prefer the ip and stuff is assigned by DHCP than defined manually.

I hope my text is understandable, hope i can get some explanation from gurus here. Thanks for help. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Is it your connection like this: ??

p1 -> modem/router(bridge) -> PC/laptop

If yes then do this:

* Set your modem/router IP same class with p1 .. let's say p1 = 192.168.1.1 than your modem/router should be 192.168.1.2

* Make sure your p1 have DHCP enable.

* Actually im not sure if this will work because i never use p1 before. But try it and let us know here.

Exactly, my P1 and my router has the same class of IP, and yes I can confirm that with different class of IP, the whole thing dont work.
By using ur example, what is weird to me is, PC1 got 192.168.1.1 as default gateway while PC2 192.168.1.2 as default gateway, this appears that PC1 & PC2's IP is assigned by different DHCP, while i only have 1 DHCP enable which is on P1, and therefore I have to force both PC1 & PC2 to have the P1 as default gateway by setting it manually

How about you change your router with switch or your router need to set as bridge. No need routing protocol.

base on my previous exp with Soma wireless (Jaring wireless), the default gateway and DHCP server it should be your router not ur wimax receiver (P1). P1 will become your modem.

the connection like this = P1-->Router-->switch/pc

router ip address will be your gateway/dhcp server.

ist ur P1 integrated with wireless?
