what the lowest score u get? memory? processor? or hdd?
how much ram do u have?

i have used win vista ultimate since 1st launch on April last year...perfect for gaming. but required at least 2GB ram.. now I'm using 64 bit ultimate still dont have any problem.

u best go back to XP...
i was using vista ulti on my pc and couldn't play dmc4 or tf2 with high settings.
had to lower my settings to either medium or low for a good performance.
using e8400, 4gb ram, foxconn mars, 9600gt btw.

The list of game I've been play thumbup.gif
Hellgate London
Crysis
UT 3
Heroes of might n magic 5
neverwinter Nigth 2
Silent Hunter- Wolf of Pacific
WOW
Guild war - faction
Fear
.....
My Last Spec & Vista Score

all game with direct 9.0 and above should have no problem...better check with game requirement n support.
most important is graphic driver.
wongth7
mmm..mayb due to the graphic driver also..im just using the driver from the cd..dint really check for the latest 1....will try and see
zubai
Yeah, I used to got the same prob too, then I change to 177.xx driver, didn't feel diff between xp and vista, except crysis, need min 3gb to run smoothly in vista compare to 2gb in xp. But now I got the dreaded Vista TDR bug, have to game in xp cry.gif
truzoids
2Gb actually enough for Vista. if u want to see improvement change to high performance DDR2.

u can see the different if u switch it using directx 10

Maybe some game have this feature like Hellgate london But crysis not yet try... maybe will try soon...

I think some game not fully compatible...coz when i play Hellgate london is ok, but 3 hour later it look laggy n game error..not sure what happen...maybe need latest patch kot....lol
Cheesenium
Maybe you need new drivers.

My laptop used to lag a lot when i play games.Part of the problem is the bad driver and also the dying HDD.
mdzaboy
no much problem running vista, still using old skewl rig btw..hehe

What makes you think high performance ram will perform better than value ram at stock settings? doh.gif
Matrix
I used Vista Ultimate to play these games.

1) Grid
2) Gears of War
3) Mass Effect
4) DMC4

No problems at all. DMC4 smooth like butter. The only game that seems to show lag is Mass Effect, which is the game's problem as the 3D engine not very optimized.

Grid also got problem...i burnt too much rubber and smoke untl i cannot see the car...LOL...this is lack of skill problem...

My specs:
E4500 C2D(@2.8Ghz)
ATI 4850 stock
2GB RAM

TS: Do you have a lot of unneccesary services and software running in the background? Try to reduce some of those. But i never bother and always leave my antivirus and other stuff on. Still ok.

performance ram state 800Mhz same like value ram but actually it can surpass 900Mhz and close to 1000Mhz . depend on brand also... check MAX IT Magazine to find review about it...

If u use it sure can make abit faster... thumbup.gif

It can reach 900 or 1000 but only if you OC it. But then there really isn't much performance gain. You try to buy a 800MHz and 1066MHz ram, plug it into your system and try for yourself. You won't feel the difference. Have you ever tried it?

I don't have to check. I am using it. Maybe there is some performance gain but not noticable. Performance ram is only good if you are OCing your cpu. If not, value ram or performance ram will be the same.
truzoids
i never try to compare 800 & 1066. b4 this i switch from 667 value to 800 perfomance ram. that can be different. chosing 1066 is not worth money to upgrade, just wait for DDR3 price droping n grab some ....lol

In vista memory operation per second can get max at 5.9 before this 5.1 using value ram

Then have you tried to compare 800MHz value ram with 800MHz performance ram? wink.gif
truzoids
sure ... i have 1Gb DDR2 667 + 1Gb DDR2 800 previous. Now already sell it to my boy at office...lol
Now 4 * 1Gb DDR2 800

Well the 800Mhz RAM has a is not faster than a 667MHz RAM if you're using stock speed, IE no overclocking or shit
The advantage came when you want to overclock as you have to match the FSB to the RAM's speed. For instance I am using an E6600 (2.66*9=2.4GHz). Using the 667 ram, I downclocked the RAM and upped the FSB so that the RAM reaches 333MHz. Now if I am using the 800 RAM, I could ramp up the FSB higher as it has a higher frequency for me to play with.

Good job explaining. I just don't know how to explain to him. thumbup.gif

What I can tell you is that many games in Vista suffers due to poor drivers from Nvidia. I used to suffer from this bug as well with my laptop equipped with Nvidia 8600GT. Nvidia drivers starting from 174 onwards fix this stupid bug.

This bug is cause by the drivers inability to detect the resolution used by FIFA which cause it to do scaling causing immense lag in the menu and in game. If drivers update couldnt fix, then there is another way to fix the lag but only will solve the in game problem. It involved creating a setting file in FIFA folder with a fix resolution.

I'll suggest to add a "local.ini" file in the game directory with these settings (change them as you want):

RESOLUTION = 1280x800x32 (change this to your wanted resolution like 1024x768x32)
