Hi there guys, I'm not if anyone has asked this question before or not because I can't find any topic regarding about this.
So, sorry if I created another similar post but I kinda need some help here.

Here's the question:
Is there any way or software that allows me to burn movie into DVD that I can play through a DVD player?
I've tried burning the movies normally into the DVD but when I inserted the DVD into the player, it reads as an unknown format.
So, is there any special way or special software that allows me to burn movie into DVD that is playable through DVD player.
And how if I want to include in the .srt file as well?

Got too many movies inside my comp and its taking up 85% of my harddisk.
I don't want to delete them away cause it took my quite some time to gather those.

Really appreciate those who are able to help me out.

if u are using nero,
in the nero express, select Video/music -> DVD video files

Depends much on the format you burn those movies. Some stand alone dvd players can read AVI, MP4, Etc. and to play the Disks burn/convert into the format.

you can try to use expressburn,this freeware can burn avi files into dvd video disk in xvid video format and mp3 audio.

I'll try it out. One more thing. If I'm using nero to burn the DVD video files, can I insert in the .srt file as well?
Will it read automatically when it start playing in the player?

i think u need to convert the srt+ur movie file together as if u put it into nero and burn,it will not support srt

well, is there anyway to do that?

u need virtual dub to combine ur movie and subtitle and convert it to avi(if not mistaken is AVI)
then u can actually straight away use nero burn.

I'm using UI friendly ConvertX2DVD, no regrets, Dolby support, multiple and selectable .srt support etc....mind you, not all software support those 2 features.

Only thing is, the burning process itself with the Nero is better...but then, depending on the setup, it takes ages to complete.

I'll stick to the ConvertX2DVD for now. Great news if you wan clearer than original video, download those mega size. Blue ray mkv files and burn to DVD using ConvertX2DVD .

Another option (which I think is best):
1.Get yourself a DVD player that does Divx as well like those 'king of playability' Philips, they dun cost much, and you can burn a few movies on a DVD instead of 1.
Philips also offer a USB port for .avi files. pictures, etc...get it? Although it only supports FAT32, works great with powered external HDD, but make sure its a fast one.
Of course you can use a USB stick to watch movies too...but remember to get less than 4GB ones as 8GB sticks are usually slow causing shuttering.
To know more abt the flexi philips and other upscaling features, just go to the Audiophiles section in the forums....yes, the philips dvd player also supports .srt files that have the same name as the title of the .avi movie on the disc. The downside is the Philips player dun support HD avi files...but no probs, most of us download those 700mb movies only.

Well, if you wanna know, the REAL editing, conversion and burning is a tedious process, usually done by those really into it. Most of the time, they use different software for each task.
Getting the Dolby right is also a problem and stuff like those are not meant for the beginners. Some of the software need hours, weeks of training to understand and tests to get the perfect Video and Audio to make a DVD.

Nowadays there are suits like Nero, Roxio, etc that are mostly 'all in one' but have very limited functions or need addin to perform better.

Then there is another type of software that are just simple tools to Convert and burn softwares like ConvertX2DVD, WinAvi, Cucusoft, etc...

Ok, that was the intro....

Actually, I'm very afraid of complicated softwares, but the ConvertX2DVD need just average skill to master. Trust me....
Soon, you'll be making very good DVD with menus, custom background etc.
There are other easier no brainer softwares out there, but have limited customization.

One thing for sure...I might recommend you the ConvertX2DVD, but in actual, you need to test out afew softwares out there cos like for example, WinAvi simply dun work on my computer...

So far, one software I really like 'was' the Windows Movie Maker.....great and fast conversion, good burning quality, no brainer but attractive menu, subs support...but one very BIG minus point no Dolby Surround!
