which 1 version ps3 can play the ps2(original) games? and how much for it?

Version 60GB but it's rare to find now.

the current 80gb also can play, but it rather emulates rather than run as the same emotion engine as ps2's. future 80gb wont have the emulator or the EE inside. so no ps2 games playback.

by the way, as im not in KL area, planning to go there in near future, anyone knows where i could find the limited edition ps3? thanks in advance.

Do you really need the PS2 support? Do you play original PS2 games?
First editions of 80GB, 60GB and 20GB support PS2 gaming/emulation.

And bear in mind....even it is supported but with condition of region locked.....aiya....why people buy ps3 and still playing ps2 game i dont understand....might as well get another 2nd hand ps2 slim solve everything....

Hmm i heard that there is HD Upscalling when you play a PS2 game in PS3, i bought a 40 GB for myself so i won't know how good it will be

But i heard if we use ps3 to play ps2 game....the graphic is even worst than using ps2 itself.....i dont know it is bcoz of upscaling or wat......but i know the graphic is more clear tat is y....it emphasized the blur or weakness of ps2 graphic.....( i dont know u understand wat i m saying or not... )....but for DVD movie....yes...the upscaling really make the graphic more clear and impressive also....

u can go youtube and search FFX in ps2 and ps3 graphic comparison....then u know in detail...

buy the US 80GB MGS4 bundle. not sure about current pricin but should be >RM2200. can play ori NTSC/UC ps1+2 games , can play R1 DVDs.

apart from playing god of war I and II, I dun really recall why should anybody wanna play PS2 games on PS3... hmmmmm....

coz be4 i got buy some original ps2 game for collection like RE4,FF,KOF and etc.....so i hope i also can play these games in ps3 and my ps2 alrdy got some problem about the lens..so where i can find? and how much for it?

It all depends what PS2 games region that you have. If you have a UK version you will need a PS3 from Europe. If you have US ps2 games than you will need a US console PS3 and so on.... A new PS2 cost around RM400-RM600

I'm looking forward for the future won't be turning back for some old PS2 game,
Anyway there are lots of PS3 game to keep us busy. I think its a very good time to get PS3...

from my survey.. 1300 - 1400 is the range of price for 40gig.. i bought my self 40 gig ps3 7 month for rm1350..+ game = RM1550..

I bought mine 3 weeks ago. 40G SG set for RM1350 from Nelson.

I think you might want to pay a visit first to the DigiMall and listen to what they have to offer. Because, if you travel from Damansara to Bernard to get get the same offer, I'll cost u time and fuel. But of course, most of us would still recommend Bernard.

Hmmm... I mean, like you said before, DigiMall offers 40GB PS3, 1 sixaxis, 1 DS3, 1 game. All for RM1600+ Correct? Make sure of this first and compare the price and the customer service. If the customer service sucks, I don't recommend buying it there.

the power supply is built in and supports 110v ~ 240v. No modification necessary. Any one say need to modify, it is a con job.

the only thing to worry about is the warranty. Asian sets from Singapore u can get warranty if u register online. Japan sets hv to go back to Japan lor. Another thing is the censorship, I heard Japan consoles got censor some games, not sure true or not..

ok, tq bros...i think its worth buying malaysian model...but buy accs from japan, which wireless controler should be around RM50 (2nd hand)...

I heard rumours that the upcoming PS3 80GB which replacing the 40gb will cause the upcoming batch of ps3 to be much expensive once it start selling in mysia. Can anyone confirm that?

Chances slim as the new 80GBs would sell at the current 40GB prices. Furthermore comes with dualshock3. If anything, 40GB price might drop.

The new 80GB should be the same price as 40GB. But, you know how some sharks operate, they'll put it at a higher price because hard disk is bigger.

PS3 has a built in stepdown transformer...the different of a Sg set and Jp set is jz the pin plug...Jp set is 2 pin,so u jz ned to go supermarket,but a rm1.00+ plug converter then can use already.

Here's something to bear in mind when shopping for your PS3.

While looking around alibaba.com for videogame suppliers, I found some companies selling refurbished PS3s and other consoles.

So if you think you're getting a really good deal, be careful. I strongly recommend you stick to to reputable sellers here. When someone tries to sell you a 40GB PS3 console for less than RM1.3k, think carefully.

ya..VERY TRUE..this is the common tricks done by irresponsible dealers/sellers...the most common thing they do is change the original PS3 lens to the non ori ones,so they can sell the ori ones to other customers..

This is one of the major reason y a lot of PS3 users complaint about dead lens in jz couple of months,or even WEEKS!!!..so beware...

rm1280 is way way to low...we as dealers noe clearly tat this kind of profit(if sell at rm1280) will def not interest any game shop in selling PS3 consoles,unless the shop doesnt want to earn a profit...which i think is impossible.

Std market price should be around rm1350-rm1390...

ai brother Ben...alibaba is one crap B2B website full of scammers esp those from China...they offer super super price for all the stuff that they claim Branded and Original..

but they doesnt noe tat all those Branded goods like Sony,Nokia,and etc are controlled by the respective companies...The world factory,China is jz in charge in manufacturing certain parts of the products,the real thing will still be assemble by SONY controlled factories which had pretty much standard price all around the world.

SO,MADE IN CHINA doesnt mean it's cheaper to buy from China...

the only trick distributor does is to play around with world money currency...

Look like everyone said that the 80 giga ps3 is same price as 40giga ps3 now..at the sony conference, they selling at USD 399, which is RM 1302 (convert with market currency now)

In my opinion, malaysia havent launch on any ps3 yet, all machine is all supply from HK, SG or even japan... so i will estimate the price should be around USD 399 + Tax + delivery cost = RM 1400++ or might higher? ...we will see at this september, and i will let you all know the price when the 80 giga ps3 released.
Sony already lost profit on each 40 giga ps3 console, will sony reducing the price of 40 giga ps3 again? i think is not possible.
from the date of 40 giga ps3 release , the price is around 1400+ and untill now is around 1300++... in my opinion, the price is already fixed, maybe will drop RM 5~10 , or raise up RM5~10, is all depend on the supplier here..

and 1 truth answer is, whether your ps3 machine is original len or the fake lens.. within the warranty 1 year period... if your lens is spoilt or have other things no function well. ..you only have 2 choice.

1. sent back to HK, SG, JP, to claim warranty ... time period is 3 month to 6 month, shipping fees you need to paid by yourself which is around RM 250 above, and the repair fees is free. unless you bring your own ps3 machine go to the country and claim for a new machine. BUT.. what i know is, they will tell you where you bought, and want to see the receipt. If you cannot show the receipt, they wont claim for a new ps3 machine for free to you. This information, is truth, and is from my supplier regarding on the warranty. regarding about the receipt things, last time i already checked with sony ps3 at singapore there. they said that, must bring the retail shop receipt together then only can be claim.

2. Repair the lens within malaysia shop here, we have our own technician to change it, no matter your machine is WITHIN the warranty period, they will charge you in between 250 ~ 450 ...
