did you install IE7 before you install XP SP3?

http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/05/0...-and-xpsp3.aspx
QUOTE
If you are currently running IE7 on XPSP2, Windows Update will offer you XPSP3 as a high priority update. If you choose to install XPSP3, Internet Explorer 7 will remain on your system after the install is complete. Your preferences will be retained. However, you will no longer be able to uninstall IE7. If you go to Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs, the Remove option will be grayed out.

I thought some components/software are using IE core to work? Like Yahoo! Messenger and MSN Messenger?

usually, if you uninstall IE7, it revert back to IE6, so you still have IE biggrin.gif

in his case, I suspect he installed IE7 before he upgraded to XP SP3 which disabled uninstallation of IE7

if he install IE7 after XP SP3, he can uninstall IE7 and use IE6

Can uninstall meh? Heard ofpeople trying to uninstall ie but why????

IE is not an option thus you wont be able to remove it.
It came as a bundle from MS whether you like it or not.

Like MS said, just leave it there if you hate it as we just want the statistic.

Read the article I've posted above. It depends on when you installed IE7. Before/after SP3
