There's must be some reason why their phones are not favourable by the market.

Perhaps they need to perform some analysis before rolling off the next product line.

Not sure how their R&D's expenses..

IMO SE still dreaming consumer prefer stylish outlook more than usability features, SE's technology has been stalled since K750 & K800 generation.

worrying news. 97% drop is 1 heck of a big drop. I have always prefer SE phone over the other brand cuz i am gotten used to the way the SE phone work. I have prob using a Nokia for 2 weeks as a spare phone. Not that Nokia is a bad phone or i am anti Nokia but i am so used to SE. Been using for the past 7 years.

Hopefully SE can turn the corner fast. Probably they can change the UI a little... make the icon look friendlier, more stylish. SE oledi have the music phone (think W series) and now camera phone (think C-series). Some popular function like GPS should be mainstay feature in new releases but i don't see them yet. I just bought a G900 and kinda surprise no std GPS function (well, i can install Google map but that is not a GPS in real sense) and 3G oni (i was expecting HSDPA to be included..!!!).

Don't think Walkman phone fail SE. Prob their cost is high. I wonder when SE uses the cybershot and walkman trademark, do they pay royalty to Sony?

Not really, from what I know for feature phone a.k.a non-OS phone, LG/SE/Samsung they using quite similar JP platform, except Nokia, using own S40 smile.gif
Exquisite
Hmm... SE should learn from this setback. IMHO SE lacks applications and most of their RM1.5K phone does not come with HSDPA support. Picture quality from camera not very outstanding to beat the competitor. Compare W960 and N82, price margin quite the same, but application wise and picture quality from their camera poses quite a wide margin of different.5 MP(N82) as oppose to 3.2 MP (W960). the only thing W960 could be proud of is only its hefty 8GB internal memory.

looks like SE Walkman phone is doing pretty well. from launch till Dec 07 (approx 28 mths), sold 57mil units. Probably here is where SE should concentrate short term to turn around.

Probably SE should revamp their G series phone. I got a G900 but compared to some "other", the feature is a little lacking. And add Carl Zeiss lens to its C-series.

QUOTE(jimmylim85 @ Jul 19 2008, 12:34 PM)
Myself have change back to Nokia N-Series. Is so much better, you have the best of both world!

Look at SE, looks featured packed but still lack of specification and feature.

Look at N95 8GB vs W960i 8GB. Certainly many will look at N95 rather than W960i.

Sony Ericsson must produce some model that match user requirement and demand.

Especially the early 2008 model, if you want 3G you lose EDGE, even when you got 3.5G but specification lack of something such as WiFi.

Look at nokia, almost every 3G phone support EDGE and those 3.5G many of them support WiFi
*

yep, and one of SE's biggest problems, they have the chipset in the k850i, so why not use it in more models not just on the z750i and k850i. they can get a lot of sales world wide if they used that triband 3g, quadband gsm on the models, instead they still make triband 3g/gprs.

Then they release the same model only look different from 2 years ago with little changes. And design I wish se would actually make a decent looking flip phone similar to their japanese models, not the ugly models they release. They tried too much to make every model different from each other when they were really too similar. Not a fan of the european designs from se, my favorite se's were the ones that have more japanese styling, s700i, w900i, etc

Okay. I think SE still could beat Motorola in every sense. Moto doesn't have a fine camera phone (SE going to come out 8Mp ade and Moto still stuck with 5MP), a walkman like phone (Moto Rokr E8). Don't even bother about cheap moto phone. They look like shit. Moto will really drop out of mobile arena if they don't produce any good phone in future.

Do u know Moto ZN5 have Wifi and no 3G? WTF?

Some IP pretty worthwhile, hope the buyer can revive Moto, if they up for sale, but there are speculation that buyer simply split up the Moto and sell sell sell

I'm currently a SE user. And is true that a phone will become quite boring as time move on, if, the phone is not freely configurable as a computer would.

The most a SE phone can configure are:
1. Theme
2. Wallpaper
3. Ringtone
4. Other - which is not really important

And that's about it. I don't really get it is that, why SE wants to separate W and K (maybe now is refer to C?) series since most of the models being produced by them are almost the same look & feel, and only different in colouring??

I guess SE just want to gain profit by minor "face-lift" of whatever model they currently have and not spending too much in R & D, which to me, I think is bad.

Think I might switch to Nokia after my W850i reach its dead zone. tongue.gif
