Why there are some Streamyx users need to execute additional steps to logon first, before they can connected to internet and some do not need such steps, and they have always on (always connected state) ? I am actually referring to home users (not the corporate package). Many thanks in advance.

You can set the modem to do the connection internally, so it will auto connect with the password and user name you entered into the modem setting page without creating another connection profile in computer.

This is how it works:

By entering the modem setting page, key in the ip like 192.xxx.x.x into the internet browser and it will load the setting page of the modem. (Not all modem IP is the same)

You can search more information on google like how to do the auto connect settings.

yes. Streamyx ADSL uses PPPoE authentication. If your modem is not a modem with a PPPoE client, then u need to dial from your PC.

So, is to say that Streamyx account with fixed IP(s) or PPPoA ==> no need to dial and logon to connect internet.
and Streamyx account with dynamic IP or PPPoE ==> need to dial & define logon information EITHER in the modem internal setup OR to create dial-up networking at computer.

even with dial-up setting u can still set yr pc to auto-dial everytime u turn on the pc. i don't wanna connect automatically so i choose to dial manually

Hi,

Remember, only do that (auto connect) when you have unlimited package. otherwise, like my brother (60 hours package) go montly bill reach Rm250.
