is this considered as blog-whoring, since TS is putting a link to his blog? This is because, the screen saver is actually a freeware as mentiont by TS, meaning it is not a work of the TS. In that case, there is definitely no need for anyone to first visit TS's blog before downloading the screen saver.

I've downloaded it and the file is kinda suspicious: comes in a RAR archive and in it there's a serial number (??? why would someone need a serial number?) and the exe file that suppose to extract the screensaver (and something else, maybe?) to your system32 directory.

There are other better alternatives, to me whoever that compress this screensaver and fit it into a RAR archive with a serial number is enough to raise some eyebrows (and suspicion)

I'm not suggesting the archive contains viruses, malware etc, it just appear to me that it came from a "shady" source.

Anyways, here's the link to Windows SysInternals's BSOD screensaver; it also fakes disk activity, as if a real dump is happening.
