LOL ok, need advice to OC my 4800+ on M2A-VM. Stock vcore @ 2.9g now. Need 1.475-1.5 to push to 3.2g. izzit normal? I've done that but the temp seems abit abnormal 64c and going. Doubt i dint install my heatsink properly.

if that is brisbane, 1.5v is ok, but windsor, 1.5v is not quite good for 24/7 uses.

I feel my new processor lags on my games. Also my 3dmark only got 10000 rather 12000. any reason for this?
AMDAthlon
What kind of games u lagging?
Ignore 3DMark.

Because you downgraded from 4 cores to 2.... cpu score in 3dmark 06 decreased.

yes. but 4 core running at 2.4 and 2 core running at 3.2.
what the state in this thread that 3.2 is faster for gaming.
AMDAthlon
If i were you,i will choose to stay with 4 cores.4 cores even not all games ultilize it,it reduces bottlenecking more than 2 cores.

What is your 3dmark with the overclock your having? Your processor and graphics are same with mine.

3dmark06 does not reflect real gaming performance. Anyhow, don't forget that phenom core vs X2 core at equal clockspeed, phenom is ~10 to 20% faster in games.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ph...x2,1746-10.html

If the game uses more than 2 threads simultaneously (which games nowadays mostly limit at 2!), then phenom will be faster even at 2.4GHz.

thanks for the link. now i know why.

Just noticed something in that link LOL....particularly in Supreme Commander, phenom core is 45% faster!! 0.o But then that's on low resolution...as resolution increases, I think the difference is smaller.

supreme commander is multi-threaded, for sure it'll run better than d x2. but if compared to intel quaddies, fore sure phenoms won't be as gud. smile.gif

keep hanging and booting.
-pWs-
Few suggestions:

1. Lower down the HT Link Speed
2. Make the Command Rate to 2T

-pWs-
digswell
i think no need to lower down the HT Link Speed
Ram timing Command Rate (CR) set to 2T
maybe can at lil bit vdimm..1.90v or 1.95v
ur ram same as mine...team elite..but the timing i use is 5/5/5/16/19/2T

press ctrl + f1 in bios main page, then go to d page where u can adjust d settings for ram. look for command rate, change it from 1t to 2t... smile.gif

for normal ram, if it's runnin 800~900MHz @ 5-5-5-x, 1.9v is d max. u don't need to give 'em extra juice just to make 'em stable, sometimes it's more on d main timings/sub-timings that make 'em unstable. i mite be wrong thou, wait for mem tweakin gurus for their advices... nod.gif

if u really immune to noise, by all mean go for big typhoon, then get a higher cfm fan to replace d stock fan. u should have very gud load temp w/ that combo.

no sweat for d deal, u scratch my back & i scratch yas only... but i do agree that we owed bro -pWs- a big time... smile.gif
