Hi all. Wanna get a new CPU, with budget RM1,500. For normal usage, on9 24/7, not too heavy Gaming (Warcraft III, dota). Preferable Intel processor. What are the specs I can get with 1.5k budget??

P/S - Only CPU, no keyboard, mouse, speaker, monitor or printer needed.

Thanks for the feedback first of all. Actually I got a offer from a shop that has the specs like this:

c2d e7200 2.53Ghz (Gigabyte)
Corsair 2gb ram
Gigabyte 945 MB
Gigabyte 8600GT GC
500GB WD HDD
Dvd-Writer
Casing + Power Supply

One thing lack bout this package is the MOBO offer is just an ordinary Gigabye 945MB mobo... I have concern about how crucial a mobo to the performance of a CPU. I thought getting Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3 (s+GL) mobo... big different between these 2 mobo?? Need some feedback here..
nik0ns
maybe u can change the mobo to p35 cheap mobo..eg:abit ip-35p-rm290,and change the proc to the cheaper one also

I'm not sure which Gigabyte 945 you talking about but you can get the comparison at Gigabyte's website.

The different is P35 support 1333 & 1600FSB which using Penryn, while 945 just support 1066FSB. That's the limitation for you to upgrading your processor which can only choose the 1066FSB. If you gonna upgrade your processor in future then better buy P35.

PS: E7200 using 1066FSB

According to the new price list.

Core 2 Duo E7200 2.53Ghz RM400
GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L RM315
GIGABYTE 8600GT with Zalman Cooler 256MB DDR3 RM280
KINGSTON DDRII 800 2GB RM135
SEAGATE 500GB/7200/32MB/ SATAII HDD RM250
Lite-On DVDRW 20x RM90
Casing RM100+

Total: RM1570+

If this still out of budget then get P31, RM280. The different just the RAM support DDR2 1066 while P35 support DDR2 1200.

The specs is good...but where is the PSU?? Btw, how crucial is a PSU to a CPU? A better PSU will help the CPU last longer??
