I just bought a Nikon D80 sometimes around last month and everything is working fine. I have capture almost 2000+ photos and everything works great. The battery can last of almost 900+ captures per charge (With combination of both built in flash usage and non). I'm quiet satisfy with it. I move on to Nikon SB-600 as I need more flash power to expand more photography possibility. This is what I experience.
To clarify, I have not once before experience this, before I got the flash. When ever I take photos with SB-600 together with it, the battery indicator will show up "low battery warning", either it is 2-3 photos per session, else it will last for around 20-30 photos then only it will show up the warning. This have been very annoying for me, as while sometimes you need to do continuos shot and you are unable to capture it. I have to switch in on and off then the battery status will be normal and I can continue to capture pictures.
I have checked with my Nikon D80 firmware and it is the latest version. I don't think I have don't anything wrong with my settings. What could be possible the reason? I have email Nikon, but they wanted me to send in the camera to let them have a check-up, duration of the progress, unknown. I just can't afford to leave it there. What can I do?

I used to have a D80 and also SB-600, and I installed the latest firmware too. But I never had this problem.
I think it's best that you leave it at the Nikon Service Center in PJ. They will try and get it done within 10 days.
This sounds like a hardware/circuitry issue which I don't think anyone here can help you fix or address the problem.
Better send it since it's still new and warranty is valid.
You wont want your camera to even die all of a sudden right?
I know it's hard, but you have to hang on. You could also convince Nikon SC that you need to shoot urgently for a client maybe, best if you got proof. They could loan you a camera if convincing enough. Look for Paul from Nikon SC in Menara PKNS, PJ. He's a pretty nice guy, and might be able to help you. He may not be able to speed up things since Nikon does their repair by orders professionally but maybe he can help loan you a camera.
