A new D80 body is about RM2.4~2.5k, 2nd hand would be about RM1.8~2k. If a replacement model is launched, I would say its about RM1.7~1.8k, it would be almost impossible to get any lower as I can still see some older model D50, D70, D70s selling for about RM1.3~1.6k. Is it worth the wait and missed out the chances to shoot? You'll have to answer this on your own! laugh.gif Just my 2cents! icon_rolleyes.gif

When I want a more natural skin tone I use colour mode Ia and Saturation set to Normal. Everything else is set to auto. Normally I use this when shooting people.
With most other things, I use colour mode IIIa and Saturation set to enhanced (cause I like colour saturation). If I want to tone down the colour saturation a little, I just set to Normal.

Just my newbie 2 cents.

Haven't tried custom curves yet though I'd love to and I don't have nikon camera control.

Ken Rockwell says this about the Tone Compensation:
QUOTE
Nikon meant to say Contrast. I always leave mine set to AUTO. In AUTO the D80 automatically applies the Zone System and adjusts contrast to match your subject, for each and every shot!

If Nikon's marketing department was paying attention, they would promote this as Automatic Dynamic Range Optimization, since that's what it does and Canon has nothing like this.

The D80 automatically lowers contrast and increases dynamic range for very contrasty subjects, and cranks up contrast for dull subjects.

Saturation also varies with this setting. If you crank it to + it looks vivid and bold for flatter subjects, but when you have a contrasty subject it's too much and blows out. Leave it in AUTO and you won't have to piddle with it.

Haha... I've owned it for 2 months only actually. Kena poisoned by my friend's D50 (which I borrowed a couple of times) for almost 2 years until I could finally afford a DSLR myself.

There is no way camera setting can be shown on LCD on the D80.

Even on my D300, I always look up on the LCD to check and change my settings. Used to it already.

What you see on the LCD is just the right amount of information you need to know.

I find it much more convenient then changing it by looking at the LCD.
Joseph Hahn
The top screen is enough and the point of not using the rear LCD is to save battery. tongue.gif Also because the top screen is a relic from film SLRs.
MetalZone
I prefer the top LCD also since I'm used to it, coming from shooting my friend's D50 then my own D80. In broad daylight, the top LCD is anytime more visible than the colour LCD at the back (gets washed out). The D80's top LCD is also backlit so you don't need to worry even in dark situations.
mazaziman
me too, prefer the top lcd coz used to it. starting from using D70s. i find it faster and comfortable to look at it compare to the back lcd.

Depending on the severity, I think need at least one working day so that technician can do a good job cleaning them.

You can send them to shops like J-One Camera at Amcorp Mall or YL Camera in Pudu Plaza. But dont think they can do on the spot or within the same day.

You really should buy silica gel to absorb moist in you bag.

If not, invest in a dry cabinet to store your equipment, because humidity in Malaysia is very dangerous for DSLR equipment.

The D90 or so called D80 replacement is not out in the market. Still a rumor and no leaked pictures of it yet.

I doubt D90 will be like D200, it may have bigger megapixels, and live view but it wont be built as tough as the D200 series.

D300 market price should stand around RM5300.
phatboss
owh calvin,i fogot to ask..how much usually they charge for the service sweat.gif
