1k for those 3? bro..i suggest you save a little more then only buy. A normal okok subwoofer..12" would be around 500 including box...and let's say you take a 4 channel amp...that would be another 500. So your 1k gone liao..lol

RM 1000 i doubt insufficient.
Component Speaker like Soundstream Picasso PCC6 RM 350.00 which handle well on SQL and SPL.
Amplifier such as Soundstream Xstream XTA 480W 4channel RM 550.00 1/2 channel for component speaker while 3/4 channel bridged to subwoofer
Subwoofer like SOundstream Picasso Limited Edition PW-10L 10" rm 400.00
Don't forget the cabling and wood panel installation (if necessary)

it can be done under 1k
ayam brand HU - RM250
ayam brand 4ch amp - RM200
ayam brand component - RM150
ayam brand woofer + box - RM200
wiring + installation - RM150
but then u will not get any satisfaction and wasted your 1k
i suggest u save a little more then only decide.
or you can spend the 1k to get a reasonable component first

Thanks for all the replies .. if 1k is insufficient, then how much would enough ? Below 2.5k is okay for me

you don't have to spend 2.5k at one go. slowly upgrade is the solution for beginner with budget constrains.

hmm mind to explain what is front component ?

thanks =)

Jul 14 2008, 08:11 AM
Yeah..get a front component. Front component means get a component set..6.5" and put it as front speakers for your car. A so-so component set would cost you around 400-500, better ones are around 700-800, depending what you are looking at.
If you have a budget, i would personally suggest getting two amp..instead of one 4 channel amp. Get a 2-channel amp and a monoblock. Like that, there's more power for your sub-woofer later.

TS!
May i know what existing system u are now? I presume you are having a stock system & you feel ur bass is insufficient. I would reckon you just add an amp + a sub. As existing, u try to use ur comp or rear to act as bass sound & it is a risk & most probably u will blow your comps(as u stated u try to high ur volume to achieve thhe bass that u desire). So by adding as i reckon, retune all your front to more treble & set the sub to do the bass job. Hence i believe abt 1k range shud be ok since u are in budget, sub(400) & amp(600)

Base on the type of music you listen to maybe add another $200 will get you an entry-level branded CD player, 6.5" passive front component set, 4-Channel amp & a 12" woofer box at the rear incl labour cost to install & set it up.

every HU has their limit... the higher the volume, the higher the distortion, hence poor sound.

sorry noob here. Noob here taught speaker is the one that produce sound(where the possibilities distortion occurs).... try take any HU(turn its volume knob to max) test on a normal speaker & what will it be?
Use the same HU(turn max the knob volume) & test with a high end speaker & what will it be? Noob here taught the main function of a HU is to transfer signal to speaker. Can HU itself can produce sound?

Well, if you ask me, i think speakers play a bigger part in making a better sound den HU does. You can take rm500 to buy a decent HU and another rm500 for a decent component set..and i'll just use my 1k to buy a good set with my stock HU, i can say my set up might just sound much better den yours.
Well of course having a better HU for my 1k set will optimize my speakers better thou.

HU will start clipping if volume too loud... it's distortion, i'm using DLS Nobelium, Helix P400 4 ch amp, HU is Panasonic CQ C9800 which is hi end of panasonic 3 yrs ago, i still clips when reach 33/40 (volume). It is not the amp clipping, cos when i play using MP3, sound was fine, but CD will clip when turn on loud. HU is very important when it come to sound reproduction.

It's all in the setup by the installer to optimise any given hardware to the maximum according to the requirement of the car owner which the installer has to understand 1st by checking his frequently use CD collection. Everything within the setup must work together to create sound which do not cancel out each other. You can have all the quality superstars in a football team like England, but the ones playing the beautiful flowing game like music are teams like Russia, Turkey & previously Greece.

well, basically within 1k budget budget i recommend u Alpine. Single din and double din differs in design and price, SQ wise i think single is on the upper hand cos of price 2 performance ratio. Double din usually costs more for the same SQ of single din.

Means better to get single din instead of double din since thier perfomance the same but price differ?
beside, after i bought the HU, which speaker should i pair with?? same brand?? (i prefer live music)
