im tired of keeping my moderm off and on and offing it again just to have a good and fast internet connection...

Is your modem in "router mode"?

Are you running P2P software such as torrents, emule, etc?

you want to reduce the "heat" modem or you want to get a good ip address?

erm... TS... your question doesnt meet the title of your topic..
if you wanna reduce heat: my own way last time... my modem have holes on the top(those small holes) then i fix a 80mm fan on top of the modem... not blowing air into modem but sucking up the hot air from the modem..

fast connection? you can tweak a bit about the setting but since its streamyx, so not much improvement can be done..

go buy 1 8.80 dolar laptop cooler in lowyat should solve the problem..

try call 100 to ask for help .i think not moderm overheat
