Hai, I'm not yet a PS3 owner. But I'm not sure which shop should I get the PS3 from. ACE prangin Mall ? I bought a 360 there and it defected like 3 months later. Kind of phobia. There is no warranty covered.

What about Mario Prangin mall and Game Tower prangin mall ?

Which of this shop got warranty covered ? Ace told me they only cover for 2 weeks. And the new price is RM1350 for a 40gig PS3. Not sure which country version.

It was last year when I bought my first XB360, barely play more than an hour everyday inside an air cond room. FREE from DUST as well coz I always make sure to clean the table everyday. And 3 months later while playing Darkness game, 3ROD appeared. LOL.. the Boss over at ACE penang said I have to pay 300RM to get it fix. Blah blah this problem continues.

Anyway fed up with the 3ROD. Anyway I'm not so keen with ACE service now. Their biz has grown big and their attitude is kind of 'u wan it buy it else don't bargain'.. even to a loyal regular customer like me. Geez history of duno how many system I bought already from them.

Just now went to confirm the price again, this time they tell me different story. THe boss told me 1350 few days ago and now he said i'm making the price up.. lol.. it's RM1400 from ACE with just 2 weeks warranty. If rosak bayar la 300RM lagi. Lol..

Went to Game Tower, pheww ~~~ their price is even steeper. 1690RM with one game of your choice ! Wah that's even higher. The boss said got 1 year warranty cover but if rosak you still have to pay.. LOL what kind of warranty is that.

And again I went to Mario prangin also. Phew.. walked 3 shop.. letih ni... the guy quoted me RM1550 with 1 extra game. Nice bargain eh since got 1 month warranty. If rosak within 1 month they fix it lo.. FOC konon.. duno la since never buy from this shop b4.. The thing is, there is no ps3 stock atm.. have to order.

so guys, I'm in a dilemma of whom should I buy the machine from ? Any more reliable shop in penang ?

Dude, try Gamemart in 1stop. Got mine from there - I believe warranty is 1yr but they sell Japan version. One of the dude there (Ah Tatt) quite friendly, took the time to explain it to me although i was just browsing around initially.

For PS3 blu-ray games, Gamemart/Shops in Pragin prices are good, dont bother with shops in Gurney/QBay... those prices I can vomit blood with the price salesman quoted (>RM230). Watch out for sellers trying to sell you opened&repackaged/used game - I nearly got conned by one fella in one of the shops.

Otherwise buy the PS3 from one of the shops in Lowyat forum... nelson / bernard. Their prices quite reasonable if you don't mind the shipping cost (usually RM40-RM80 to Penang) and highly recommended by the folks in the forum if you follow their forum thread.

But PS3 rarely break down. based on my research combing through forums and reviews, the absolute worst (SUAY) case is the blu ray lens rosak. Go to XBOX forum, and you'll see a stretch of 3ROD users complaining -which was why i opt for PS3.

If you can wait a few days/weeks I might be letting go of my 40GB PS3 (1 month old). Waiting for my MGS4 LE PS3 to arrive.

1.Either you can bring back 360 to Ace for fix this repair then ask whether you wanna to trade in for PS3.
2.Another option that you can go to Gamemart at 1stop Midland ask about ps3.

the warranty issue actually is shipment u have to pay your self.. then the fixing is FOC.

Queens Bay got one is Game house.. last time i go survey is 1400 (console only), and no stock one.. need to order..

i bought my PS3 from QB Mall... there are 3 game shops there, 2 of them have stocks at hand... lowest (cash) is RM1.5k+ for Machine with Metal Gear Solid.

I bought mine at a shop called GameMonster.
Paid about RM1.6k+ for the console and MGS game (cos use credit card)
I think my set is a korean set... didn't notice it till a few days later...

I'm not sure what is the price of the PS3 now.

All i know is, during the MGS4 launch, it was priced at 1.3k for the 40GB.

But now, i'm not sure... I bought it last year for 1.5k.

And dont worry man, he's as reliable as you can get. And will never cut throat.

Although the games he sell is slightly more expensive than KL shops, it's not by much.

What i do is, if i can wait for the games, i'll buy from P-A. If i cant wait or just cost a few more bucks.. i'll go to his place instead.




btw.. i think mine is singapore/hk set.

i don't know what causes this or is it issue with ACE but then.. i don't plan to bring it back for them to fix. i plan to bring back singapore for warranty.

Might be a faulty "bios" battery. Or its a really old set and they recycled it as a new one.

I just found out from an ex staff of ACE.. they are actually selling refurbished as NEW 1st hand ! Damn ! Feel cheated after so long been a regular there. Anyway I checked out GameMart and had one PS3 reserved now.. Going pick it up this few days. Hopefully it's a good choice.

Regarding the time reset, err is it got something to do with the network stuff ? I read somewhere about it reseting every time u login the net..

Btw is it sufficient to play PS3 game online with just 512kbps yet streamyx popular lag-FULL connection ?

i bougth mine from ACE.. and the date time reset happening only a week after.. I can't be sure if its a refurbished unit because i can successfully register the warraty for one year in the sony website.

However i do feel regret that i should have asked my friend to buy a new unit from the singapore when he was there..

for my case on the date time resets.. i plan to send it to singapore for warranty check, courier to my friend who stay in singapore.. then i will be able to tell if it is a refurbished or not..

I don't have a LCD tv. but my sony tv is good enough to do even 1080.. though I set it on 720p with component only.. hehe.. sweet but menu word is a bit small. In game is good enuf though. N mGS4 is sweet, getting use to the control though..

I just bought a PS3 from ACE april and its in good shape if you are interested.

I have to be honest with you on this. My PS3 has no issues but only got a slight irritation which the PS3 date time might need to set again on occasional reboot. other than that everything works find.

I can sell you at negotiable cheaper price because i lazy to send it back to fix and maybe use the money to get the limited edition for myself later on. The box , receipts and manuals are all brand new 90% good quality and the only game i ever play on the machine so far is MGS4. I bought from ACE.

The best thing is, i have registered the warranty and it the warranty works until April 2009.

enjoy the GTA4,Virtual Tennis 3 & FIFA'08 games very much, but not really like the MGS4 as i feel that it is pretty boring...

By the way, anyone of you in Penang here managed to buy the new Top Spin 3 game? Really can't wait to own the game but till now still fail to source it locally here in Penang either the region1 or region 3 version...

I got mine from ACE as well. That owner Ah Hin installed that Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection and charged me RM50 for it. Was informed this game cost RM90 if buy online. Then 1 week later, i asked him if he got the installer because my friend also wants it, he said no installer. While there, i tried PSP, RM720 for 4GB. I'm not into PSP games, just wanted to watch movies and remote control my PS3.

Got one shop told me that Tekken 5: DR game comes with a installer. I ended up buying from that shop instead of ACE. One day i passed through ACE while holding my PSP, Ah Hin got a strange look on his face, that is what he gets for no installer crap
