nothing happen..no virus was found..

i had found many virus that are clever enough to hide itself from antivirus, even if you do regular updates. Worse, they prevent future antivirus installations and disabling your current antivirus. It is wise to regularly update your antivirus, it will always blocked any incoming virus. But when it has set it place in your PC, formatting seems the best way.

From my experienced, your virus most probably is Brontox or one of its variants (they are similar, they tend to disable folder options, command prompts, task managers, etc.). There are other solutions other than formatting though, and some involving registry hacks. But how about you try to google something like "brontok washer" first? It works for older variant of the virus. If you're lucky, you can just fix your problem just by using that software.

Well from the way it looks, I guess this should be suffice.

Please download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs and save it to your desktop:
Note: Please delete any existing copy of Flash Disinfector(if any) on your pc and download this one.
  • Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it.
  • Follow any prompts that may appear.
  • Your desktop will vanish for a while, and then reappear. This is normal.
  • Wait until the program has finished scanning, then please exit the program.
  • Restart your computer and see if problem still persists.

If that will solve it, that means it is definitely not a virus. I'm afraid this is a virus infection case.
sergen
usually 3 thing will be disable by virus

1. folder options - so can't see hidden files/system
2. task manager
3. run options / regedit funtions

if it's really a virus, you need to clean it first before re-enable 3 things above

or try this

http://www.geekzlife.net

for virus... do scan it while in SAFE MODE.

Canot view folder option doesn't mean virus still there(it maybe had been removed)
Just leaves some traces.
U need registry key to fix this problem.
Try flash disinfector first.
I had forgeten the website for the registry.(search older thread)
menmissed
try tis

Open regedit in your start>run>regedit browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\policies\Explorer If you find "NoFolderOptions" value, delete it.

The other way open gpedit in your start>run>gpedit.msc Browse to User Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Explorer>Removes the Folder Options item from Tools Menu Set state to disabled.
uchiha_sauffie
use HiJackThis application.
forgot the web site but can google it..
run it and see the log file of registry and file setting.
fix only that malicious activity in ur registry and fix also the "disablefolderoption" /"nofolderoption"registry.
DO NOT fix ALL!! Some of them are needed by your system.
