Just for my information, is it illegal if I use my home PC with pirated software to do a progem but published in my company internal network. i.e. do some VB or ASP program but use by internal staff only & not publishing on the internet. Can I do that?

Using pirated software in your home pc -> illegal
Using your pirated software in your home PC to do your company work -> unethical

in the point of view who?
i also wondering the same question.
If you used something illegal to earn money, than it's illegal la without crediting to the original owner.
How about copy and paste your source code into your company (with legal software and compiled it )?

The act of using pirated software is
illegal. I'm sure you know that. But the act of using your pirated software to compile a final version of a work project in the pretense that it is using the office PC is
unethical. Because you are fooling people into thinking you had the license on the development tools used to make this work.

It's illegal to use a pirated programming tool. However, programs created by the tool are considered your own work and thus legal to distribute, though the process of creating them be illegal. It's just unethical. However, if you're redistributing libraries provided within the tool, then it is illegal.
Legalities aside, why not just download a copy of Visual Studio Express and recompile your source on that? Perfectly legal, redistributable and free.

How about running a pirated software, from an original copy of say, Vista using an original VMWare? Or like, using an original VMWare on a pirated Vista, to host Linux, while inside Linux you use VirtualBox to run a pirated copy of Windows Server 2008? Gahaha lulzing.

When you buy something without paying the owner, it's stealling so it's illegal. If you want to buy/use something that belongs to someone else, pay for it. That's the basics of a healthy balanced economy between buyers(consumers) & sellers(workers).

Pirate = Illegal, Full Stop. If you wan to ask if you will get caught if you publish the software in your company, then no. Why? Because they could not trace if you are compiling it using what copy. Doesn't mean it is legal.

What would you say to someone who is using a pirated software, which you created, to work on something related to his/her office work. Once he/she is done with it, they remember the steps of doing so and repeat it within the context of their office, which uses original software.

I do have illegal software in my home pc actually. I know it's illegal. But this is something I have to do.
The company has paid lots, I mean LOTS, of money for licenses in the office. But sometimes my work just cannot be finshed in the office. I can't be staying in the office till early hours in the morning. I need to go home.
There can be a solution for this I guess. But until they work to find a solution, I just have to resort to the pirated copy.
And truth to tell, if it were not for the availability of the pirated copies, the company would not have even chosen to pay lots of money for that particular software.

who the hell gonna know if you are using an illegal software that makes up your system / program by looking at the final object files? the software used at home is illegal, your act is unethical, the final product is legal, feel safe to deploy in your company network.
