1st of all just wondering where did he got all the gpu?? and another thing is how much would it cost to solder the gpu.....

as i know that the current problem is cause by the leadless solder iron and t tend to melt at lower temp... so if we change it to one with lead i think we could solve the problem... hehe just my 2 cent...

That is what i am interested in.

yes for old xbox 128mb upgrade .can run faster and stable emulator game like mame emulator or FBA-XXX_Pro emulator any arcade emulator

y resoldering the gpu can fix? As example, u bought a new xbox 360 rite? Everything also no prob, but prolonged usage also come RROD. Ur reslodering is like changing it into a new one rite? Will it be like a cycle? Sorry i am just curious how resoldering really make it a 100% fix.

It is pretty pricey, but if it is a 100% fix, it might be appealing to certain people.

May i ask, what solder are you using? Lead based or tin based or lead free?

3ROD happens because of a combination of many factors, but one of the suspected reasons is that the lead-free solder used in the BGA gpu and cpu chipset isn't as strong as the normal lead based solder. Apparently hairline cracks form on the lead free solder when the motherboard warps from the excessive heat (which is caused by poorly designed cooling system). Some people reckon that if Microsoft were to use lead based solder, this problem might not be as serious as it is. But because of regulations or some environmental thingy, US have to use lead free solder in electrical components.

There are people doing this kind of fix in Brazil IIRC, but it was done manually (and painstakingly). I do not know whether it managed to solve the problem 100% as i never followed up on the progress.

Curiously, tech2 mentioned that the lead he is using is lead free

Maybe I can believe that you have the skills to re/solder any BGA chips but I am really skeptical that you can get any new X360 GPU. What I can say here is that those GPUs might be scavenged from dead X360s.

hmmm 450-550... dont think so i will spend that amount of money on my dead japanese 360. so perhaps you should make it slightly cheaper then more ppl sure willing to spend on repair.

if RM500 for it , i think better ask GamersHideout to claim warranty for my unit at SG...reasonable price too.

oh, ya. Y not sending it for warranty if still under warranty. Just if u wanna try revive ur old set, this should do the trick. BUt i think price too steep. RM300 should be a sweet spot if the fix is permanent,RM500 really worth it. Probably after resolder, we can try the Team Xceuter RROD fix that prevent the mobo from warping. They might use better rubber than our normal "eraser" which can withstand very high temp.

It's weird, how could you get brand new GPUs from taiwan? Microsoft sells their GPUs off the factory just like that?

yes I repair the xbox 360 resoldering GPU 2 hour can fix it .but if many job need 3 hours or 5 hours .....or leave one day .other technican people say can fix xbox 360 3 red charge rm180 but just remove x clamp and srew only all useless
