Is the date time setting for PS3 stored in an internal battery ?

I don't know if anyone face this before.. I recently have an issue where on and off when i boot up my PS3, i asks me to set the date and time.

It doesn't happens on EVERY reboot.. but maybe 2 out of 6 times at random? I am feeling something bad about this. Or is it something i did wrong in configuration?

Kinda worried... i have tried updated to latest 2.36 firmware and even restored the PS3 system but it still happens once in a while..

could any advise? maybe the battery in PS3 have problems? in this case have to send back to singapore sony service center to replace??

I didn't face this problem on my PS3 before. And there's no mention of user replaceable internal battery inside the user manual. Maybe you can e-mail Sony SG for support.

did u go to XMB and set Time and Settings to obtain "via the internet"?

sometimes, the ps3 tries to synch its time settings when connected to PSN.

yeah i have tried both, set to obtain manually and also set to obtain via internet.. same thing. occasionally might ask me to set date time again on boot up.

i suspect on board battery like our bios battery in pc could be the culprit.. but if that the case why sometimes it can remember the date and sometimes not ?

It could be that.
