a good 16mm FF lens? so you can attach those slot in filters on it?

16-85VR is a kind of indirect replacement for 18-135 so I don't think so. A 28-200 or 28-300 FF with VR is more likely for the "superzoom" category.

I read the review on the rumour. THe Nikon is really good. BUt no turning point for me liao.

Once again, the Nikon released the 24-70mm this year because only now they have FF cameras. There is never too late in terms of catching up.

Canon just announced their first true entry-level camera, the Canon 1000D. Are you saying their technology is slow? And they can't catch up anymore since D40 was released ages ago?

There is a right time for everything and I think Nikon has realised the maturity of the market to fully justify introducing more products into the pro range.

Btw... Jacobs Digital Photo & Video, a UK camera supplier, is boasting a "a big surprise on the 1st July 2008, a major supplier will be announcing a brand new SLR." The consensus seems to be that it'll be the D700 from Nikon, a mid-range full-frame DSLR that's been generating a lot of noise recently. Other, less likely, possibilities: D90 or D3x from Nikon, or the long-awaited Canon 5D Mark II. Whichever ones aren't announced July 1 we'll probably see at Photokina in Sept.
