Hello hunters,

Just want your comment/opinion on this;

What shot rotation macro do you guys use? (considering our normal local internet connection ping 400 - 1200ms)

I've tried the so called 3:2 shot rotaion;

#showtooltip Steady Shot
/cast !Auto shot
/cast [target=pettarget,exists] Kill Command
/cast Steady shot
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

and all of its other/modified versions

And the so called castsequence (1:1) shot rotation;

/script UIErrorsFrame:Hide()
/cast [target=pettarget] Kill Command
/castsequence reset=1 Steady Shot, !Auto Shot
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear(); UIErrorsFrame:Show()

and all of its other/modified version

And find that that they did almost the same damage range and sometimes surprisingly doing lower damage than when i just use the steady shot, arcane shot, kc, etc.. when its cds on (manually)

Any comment/suggestion?

My damage range normally 800 - 1200dps depending on raid buff. & I want more...

Glad if you could mention what shot rotation you use so i can test it.

Thanks.

oh btw - this is my hunter http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.x...estrasz&n=Aynew

Uncle Bebo! Time for you to come out of hiding and give advice!

My hunters use both of those rotations - Taingau = 3:2 ; Tomyam = 1:1

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.x...lstrom&n=tomyam
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.x...strom&n=taingau

Both are BM specced and usually top 5 - do around 1.4k dps and above. Maybe slightly less on very mobile fights.

Main difference I can see is their gear disparity with yours. Also I know Tain sets some benchmarks for his hunters, e.g. >30% crit.

Managed to pull out a WWS for you to check out their rotation... http://wowwebstats.com/mta5kdlojuqwi?s=293409-311097

EDIT:
Erm, the previous week --> http://wowwebstats.com/xe4neylpgjnaq?s=296940-314969

Hope this helps bro!

ok Bro Saingau thanks for the reply.

Seen the wws.

I normally had 'shots counts' experience as same as Dchunter ( eg. 37% auto, 29% Steady) and Tomyam - where the auto shot is more than steady shot.

Whereas Taingau (in both wws) cast more steady than auto (46% steady and 26% auto)

Question; Which shot rotation do you use to get more steady than auto? Looks like you do more damage if you can shoot more steady shot than auto shot.

Or maybe its because of how you open up (start ) your shot. Auto first? Steady first or arcane first? or is there some secret way to spam that macro.

thanks bro. icon_rolleyes.gif

I cant really say which is better - I guess I can point my bro (tain) to this topic and let him comment.

However, you also gotta factor in gears - reason Tain went for a heavier steady shot rotation is cause of the 4set bonus from T5 hunter set (extra crit on steady).

3:2 more steady shots over auto shots.

Start with auto, not with instants.

Hmm, you are using Crossbow of Relentless Assault now?

If you can get around 50+ (53 to be exact) haste rating , you can achieve 1.96 speed (paper doll speed) which is same as the awesome Wolfslayer Rifle speed.
It is just nice and perfect for 1:1 shot rotations.
But dont stack too much haste. With malaysian's crappy connections, too much haste will clip ur shots.

Im using that peacock bow now with Shivering Spine (ngam ngam right on the spot 53 haste) from Sunwell trash.

Was BM hunter. Doing around 1200-1400dps on BT trash mobs. After getting more haste I changed to MM. Now still at testing stage. But now my dps have went up 100dps to 1300-1500dps on BT trash.

Using 3:2 macro.

As MM you will almost always do more DPS on trash because they don't last long. MM has great burst damage potential but horrible mana efficiency, and a BM hunter who knows what he's doing will always out DPS any other hunter spec as BM on bosses.

Which shot rotation you use is highly depandant on your weapon speed. the 3:2 /cast macro will do more DPS but is more mana intensive. The 1:1 /castsequence macro will do less damage but will be way more mana efficient because you are limiting the amount of Steady Shots in a fight. One can never say Auto or Steady will do more damage, that is dependant on your weapons original weap speed. The slower it is, the harder Auto hits, but Steady will always do the same damage regardless of speed.

I personally use the 3:2 /cast because I have way more than enough mana to burn in any given fight (9.4k buffed) and I have achieved a perfect % ratio of Auto and Steady with the rainbow-chicken-on-a-stick bow with 53 haste I get from my Vanir offhand and the ZA chestpiece.

The 1:1 /cast macro you posted could do a little modifying though.

#showtooltip Steady Shot
/castsequence reset=3 !Auto Shot, Steady Shot
/castrandom [target=pettarget, exists] Kill Command
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear();

If you need help on explaining how shot rotations work, I'll be more than happy to explain =)
Goblinsk8er
He has 4/5 T5 set.

That makes 3:2 shot rotation more powerful due to more crits on Steadies. (similarly to 4/8 t6 set with +10% on steadies)
One thing i wanna mention though, get some blue gems and switch to +12 agi/+3% crit meta gem.
It makes a HUUUGE difference.
ArmedandDangerous
Also, get the S3 helm, it's better than most and will last you till you're deep in BT. Even the T6 helm isn't as good, but you'll have to wear that for 4/8 T6 (Bow-stitched Leggings are better than T6 legs) =)

Gear plays an important role in pushing your dps higher. 3:2 is like most ppl said, very mana intensive... therefore most BM hunters would go with 1:1 on boss fights as they tend to last longer. It also depends on how well synergy your group setup is. Having an spriest makes things a whole lot easier, as for myself... in 25 man raids I'm always in a group with 2 hunters, 1 sp and a resto shaman.

Hit ratiing is another factor to consider to maximize dps, for a BM hunter 142 is the cap, however you do not need to get there by sacrificing loads of other stats. I raid with 133 and still can do 2.7k dps on teron.

And yes the s3 helm is better than most available helms and its even better than the T6... you will only replace it with either Forest Prowler from IC, Cursed Vision from illidan or Coif of alleria from KJ.

Im currently at lvl 25, it there a combination shot that I can use at the moment ??
Goblinsk8er
Lol, lvl 25 use afkshot rotation la. (occasionally arcane shot)

You dont have mana or steady shot to do any rotations.

what he means is..

1. select your target,

2. send pet to attack,

3. cast/press autoshot/autoattack,

4. go to the kitchen make yourself a cup of coffee or do your laundry,

5. by the time you come back to your p.c, your target should be dead already ohmy.gif
