Yeah I converted the existing quotes to spoilers, otherwise it becomes very hard to read because the same things keep getting quoted again and again. Do you think it's better without them?

Yes most common is next and previous. But unread also a good thing eventhough pm is not always keep coming.
The spoiler is really good thing. But previous reply should not be in the spoiler also.
Something like 1st pm reply from receiver, previous message is in the spoiler.
But in 2nd reply from receiver, the 1st reply still in the spoiler. Maybe can remove it. Just leave the 2nd reply only.

You don't have to manually scroll down - it scrolls you to the right spot automatically.

I'm working on limiting the number of messages shown in the page. The longest conversation we have here is 151 messages o.O

Prefer the previous system as it's more user friendly. Most important, i can straightaway read my current pm without popping spoiler and previous message appearing in fade mode. Annoying i would say. Hope mods could revert back to previous pm system. Thanks.

There's something wrong with the new pm message especially when viewing "Sent Items".

All the messages are faded and ALSO INCLUDES unrelated pm messages from OTHER FORUMERS (not meant for me)!!!!

However, if I click on the messages again, it disappears, only showing the proper messages....

Hope admin can correct this problem ASAP as we will be viewing other forumers pm at random....

Can I suggest to change the "Jump to folder..." to "Move to folder..." which is tagged below the PM message? I think it saves more time and convinience instead of going back and forth to move them (by checking the checkbox)..

It's good to cut down the unnecessary information, like avatar and postcounts. That should save more space.

This upgrade does look nicer.

But at the moment, I can't view my sent PM. Hope this will be fix soon.

And while you're at it, previously when I tried to move my PM to new folder... the PM senders' name will be replaced by mine. This is fixable right?

The spoiler tags are really confusing. I don't know it this is actually doable, just throwing some ideas around...

1. All conversations are threaded by Nick + Subject i.e. each thread is formatted this way:
<subject>
<nick>
<time+date> <body of message>

2. Each 'thread' shows only 1 instance of the avatar of the other person (for ease of recognition + save bandwidth)

3. If PMs containing same subject is sent to multiple users, each user that replies is shown in a separate thread

4. Each separate thread containing the conversations between yourself and user (on the SAME subject) are hidden in a spoiler tag. For example:

Just want to clarify - if the other party deletes their parts of the thread - will this be lost ? Does that mean we cannot save the whole thread in case of dispute ? Please confirm. Thanks

I did see other people's messages. The weird part is I don't know why I can see when the title is not the same.
Anyhow, after I tried again, the message is gone.

Still, it is a dangerous thing.

well, d spoiler thngy is quite gud, its like after u reply, it will put ur previous message in a spoiler, but putting previous message outside is like abit pointless? since u got all d previous message inside spoiler already..when u wanna view previous message u can just open d spoiler.. can make it more tidy i thnk..

1. Please try it out for a week and see if you still dislike it.

2. I'll be working on limiting the number of PMs displayed at once, but otherwise it shouldn't be significantly affecting loading time (on a decent computer + broadband connection).

3. The spoilers are there as a stopgap to migrate old quoted-style messages to the new system. If you notice, your new replies aren't quoted (this is to save our diskspace, among other reasons). I can make an option to show you the old system, but for future messages you're not going to see any of the quoted replies. Think about it.

4. If you can remember the context that every message is in, that's good for you. You can simply ignore the previous messages then

Sorta.... it makes use your recipient's message space, so if he deletes it, it's gone from your side too.

Yes, someone could delete all the messages he received if there's a dispute. In the old system, you have a chain of quotes as a form of "backup". But the chain is unverfiable chain as you can put anything into it anyway. I'll have a thought about this concern though.

You're right. Damn that was a stupid bug. It's a race condition where for up to 30 seconds, the messages aren't grouped together. They're left in a default group, so you will other peoples messages in that 30 second window if you're fast enough. Apologies.

I think I've fixed the sent PM viewing.. can you check now?

I checked and found that you don't have anything in your Sent Items in the first place. Are you very very sure that you've seen messages in it before? FYI you need to check "save this message" everytime you send a PM, to have a message in your Sent Items folder.

Actually it is a great feature. And since the PM inbox has been enlarged recently, I guess people will keep their PMs for quite a while.

I would like to know... how much space does 1 PM actually occupy on the server?

So, it means we still can view other people's messages but just rare case?

The faded is not functioning for my maxthon.

On disk it's 1.5GB for ~1.5 mil messages.. about 1KB/message.

It's fixed. Not possible anymore.
