Fairuz to drive for Malaysia in A1GP this weekend

QUOTE

PETALING JAYA: Fairuz Fauzy will again drive for Malaysia in the second round of the A1 Grand Prix at the Chengdu circuit this weekend.

And Aaron Lim will participate in Friday’s practice session, which is reserved for the rookie drivers and those with less than two years of experience.

Fairuz will make his first appearance in China as the championship leader following superb performances in both the sprint and feature races at the season-opening event in Zandvoort in October. He was the winner in the sprint race and finished second in the feature event for a total of 22 points to share the lead with France.

Better than Alex in term of what? For me they have the same skills with Fairuz's advantage is he is younger. Pounds for pounds, Alex did more than any Malaysian drivers can dream of acheiving, but sadly Malaysians are blinded by his nightmare outing in teh Minardi. They never talk about his great performance in the CART series, or how he fought and won a podium in a shitty car in the Le Mans series, or how he and his dad pushed Proton to let them have a system to blood young and upcoming local drivers so that they won't have to face the same hardship that they did when he was starting out. Or how he has to use all his prize money to fund these projects.
I hate when people says "Ooh this driver is better than Alex" or "Alex can't drive" when he showed that he is one of the best driver in the region and had done much without asking anything back from the country. If these people were all oh so "knowing", then they should back their statements with facts.

Ya, both driver got their skill. Alex's Minardi time were not really great but it open the road for Malaysian drivers to get into Formula 1.

Whatever it is, I support all Malaysian drivers! thumbup.gif

I think Fairuz will be main driver for this season, as Alex will race in GP2 Asia for Team Meritus.

Alex also tested Speedcar at Dubai.

well, still expecting a good result tomorrow for feature race so that MAS will still lead the overall point brows.gif

should we blame the Korean team which cause the red flag, which result "no time" for Team Malaysia?

QUOTE(A1GP News @ Nov 23 2008)
Lap 18 What is going on in the pits? Malaysia's Fairuz Fauzy comes in for seemingly no reason. The mechanics are surprised to see him, and send him out again straight away. He loses third place.

Flag Fairuz Fauzy has done a TV interview and said that he heard the words box box on his radio, which is why he went into the pits for that random pit stop. It proably lost him a podium finish.

oh my !! no podium at home ground doh.gif ... managed to score 1 point at 10th place
Alternation
really disappointed with the event management. no time keeping, position and screen 2 show unseen sections! the PA system is simply ridiculous. Fortunately they open up the last corner section during the feature race.
