Greetings

I stopped playing PC games last march, and I would like to proceed my gaming into console.
So far, my budget only allow me to get a PS2 or PSP.

So I would like to know, is it wise to buy PS2 nowadays? Heard that seldom new games are released now.
As for PSP, there are plenty of games. Plus its portability wins over PS2, and can play some PS games too.

Or maybe should I save summore and go for PS3?

PS3? yeah of course u can, that means u gotta save up a few months longer when u expect to buy a PS3 coz u will need a LCD screen as well (or LCD monitors with the adapter)

a fren of mine has been living with PS3 playing on his TV kotak [SD TV] for a year, havent got bored yet lol..coz never bother to checkout PS3 graphics..so its still up to u

if u r interested to buy PS2, i can offer u mine.

latest 6 series modded PS2 (before the slim model) with 2 original dual shock 2 controllers and 2 original memory cards. Plus tons of great games! hehehhee

i go for PSP with limit budget. If you can wait longer, i go for PS3. i owns a PSP. still not bored with it.

PS2 buy now for kids. PSP buy now for kids n adult. PS3 buy now for Adult.

ask ur self what kind of game style are u... do you like gaming on the go? or rather sitting on the couch.....if u got budget for a psp/ps2 i assume u have around 800 at ur disposal... if so b4 i touch on getting a ps3 think again can u afford to buy game for ps3.... ya we have cheaper option here 2nd hand but that also would be average of 150/unit.... is that comfortable for u? if it is... then ps3 is for u then.... instead of going for ps2.... since u can spen 150/month for the game then u can save around four or five month u can own a ps3.... hehehehe

not that geting a ps2 is not good but why go for the old one when u can actually go for the better one..... let say if u buy ps2 then u will have to start all over again when u want to get a ps3.... so now its really up to u what u wanna get. hehehe

One thing though, the PS2 has some of the best games ever made and it isn't a short list either. Take a look at some of the highest regarded PS2 games, see if you are interested in them. If so, then I would say go get a PS2.

A seasoned gamer will still need a PS2. I have already bought 3 units of PS2 (The latest is SCPH 90006). Imagine all the older titles (God Of War 1&2, MGS1-3, Devil May Cry1-3) are all on PS2. A collector like me still needs a PS2 to run these games which has continuation of storyline for PS3 titles.

I think you go for a PS2, I've a PSP with me.. the games... well if you know to read chinese characters then it will be great coz there are alot of japs psp games as for eng psp games still in the mid range..

PS2 you got lotsa games to choose although now sony is slowly to stop producin games for ps2.. but the gameplay wise.. go for ps2..

I'm plannin to get myself a ps2 also..

ps2 got many great game, but for psp not so many great game... most of psp game have a problem with control and camera system.. except that psp is portable,can play video n mp3..

hi kalakatu, for starters the PS2 is a great console if you're planing to buy one,

* a lot of a-list action titles ( silent hill, metal gear, gta )
* all sony platformers ( ratchet and clank, Jak , god of war )
* a lot of fighting games ( tekken, kof, soul calibur)
* music/rhythm based games ( ddr, guitar hero, )
* rpg ( final fantasy, shadow of the colossus)

PSP ~

Depends whether you would want to play the games on the PS2 or not...there are of course a lot of great games on it but don expect new AAA games to come out in the future though...

Oh and you don't have to spend RM100-200 per game if you going for PS2..so think of that too.

Go for PSP if ur budget is below 1k. If u can at least fork out 3k(if u dont have a hdmi appliant tv/lcd) then u go for ps3. Ps2 is considered outdated and much more like a classic already. Nowadays, mostly classic rpg games are remade for PSP with cgi enchanced cutscenes and battle scenarios.

just go for psp...after buying psp..if u got extra cash go for ps3...tht psp u bought can hook up to ps3..but if u buy ps2 cant hook up to psp or ps3

if u not working and dont have rich parents.. ps3 is a bad choice for u right now since you can only play original game..

like that lah, buy both PS2 and PSP, but in 2nd hand, can help reduce the cost of owning each

PS2 2nd hand as cheap as RM250, PSP 2nd hand as cheap as RM400 [fat one]

choose what games u want to play.. if u travel alot, go for a psp, since alot of ps2 games has been ported to psp nowadays.. as for ps3, if the financial allowed, go on..

ps2 is still the best, i doubt any console will surpass it. ps2 forever ~

ps3 =play original ONLY new game rm 180+ so u better think nicelly + u need a lcd monitor or 32 inch tv for your ps3 belive me ..me my sely buy ps3 for 1 month then sell liao to ppl.......hehe.ps2 u see many ppl offer to sell u ps2 here then u know la the answer normal console BUT psp is portable grafic wise MORE beutifull then ps2 belive me i got 3 console b4 most love is ps3 but no money buy 32 inch tv so now love psp move .....it is your choise by the way monster hunter suck men sorry no offence

for me still wise decision.. if you have extra money better go for ps3.. but you will not regret if have ps2 cause the game library are big..

I would say go for PS2.... y? coz PS2 still got tons of great games and only need to have normal TV to play with.

If game play go for PS2, if visual definetely for PS3.

True that they not making new PS2 games, but with the library of games that exist I bet you will have another year or 2 to keep and play every single PS2 game title that known to man

For PSP? yes it is true its mobile plat form, but do you really need it? as in daily activities will probhibit you to keep on playing it for long.

Also not to mention the pathetic collection of PSP games, true got some killer games avail but how much is it compare to PS2?

If ppl say its the in gadget thing, can use skype can use internet, this that bla2.. better either u go to cybercafe, or stick with ur computer at home/starbucks for lappie. or.. get ur self a PDA

Again its my opinion, at the end it goes back to the TS decision.

got money rm 150-250 at least to fork a new game every month go for PS3

enjoy handheld console,newbie to most of PS1 game, go for psp

dun hav budget want a simple console but great go for ps2

it is also note that u can't play most of PS1 title on ur ps2 since it modded

if u wish to enjoy PS1 title u might want PSP or PS3

but i suggest u to get PS3 IF POSSIBLE since u can download PS1 title from ps store and play PS2 game if u happen to buy original PS2 game(sony style have )

and lastly, if u own PS3, HDTV is not a must have(maybe)it depend on how ur opinion on graphic.

well, for all these technology stuff, I'll always go for the latest model if I can afford, I own a PS3 but never own a PS2, feel like getting PS2 after play MGS4 , really wanna play MGS2 and MGS3. Well......... it's always the financial problem which is bothering us. but still have high hopes on future games coming to PS3

i have a PS3, a PS2 (my second one) and a PSP.

I still spend most time on my PS2, mainly bcoz i have many ps2 games that i can play over and over again. it never get bored.

for PS3, mainly due to lack of good games as of now, i only have 3 games even though i own PS3 more than 1 year already. not so many good titles worth buying.

PSP is kinda different. its like laptop versus desktop. each has its own advantage depends on the user's need and preference.

depend teh game that u want to play... IMO i will go for PS2 over psp since the game genre that i like is more into PS2 over psp

I'm just a little bit curious.... Will game companies stop making games for PS2 ?? Since there is PS3.... Because i'm buying it by the end of the month..... Is it worth it for me to buy....

yup...probably, most of the upcoming games will be appear in ps3...

well right now ps2 still have more release to come... in fact it have more release compare to psp.. for me, it always worth to buy ps2 because it have great n big games library...
