You can easily change your PDA Today's theme (colors, graphic, effect, background) to a different one. What you need is to download the theme file (filename ended with .tsk) and copy them into device\windows\ folder. Once done, you may then select it from Settings\Today\Appearance\ option.

Warning
Changing the registry may render your device unusable. Simple rule, do not make any changes unless you know what you are doing. Backup your registry settings to avoid any regret later on.

1. Enable Lunar Calendar
i) Goto Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Calender
ii) Locate ShowLunarCalender and change the Value to 1
iii) Save and soft-reset. Go to calender and you'll be able to see the lunar calender when you flip through the day/month/year tap.
p/s: Works in WM5.0. Seems not working for WM6.0

2. Change Default Input Method
To make 'Letter Recogniser' Default:
i) Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip
ii) Change DefaultIm's string value to {42429690-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}
iii) Save and soft-reset.

To make 'Block Recogniser' Default:
i) Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip
ii) Change DefaultIm's string value to {42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}
iii) Save and soft-reset

To make 'Keyboard' Default: (Original)
i) Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip

3. Change Default Ringtone Folder
You can place your large ringtones in your storage card and select them as your preferred ringtone.

*Registry edit seems not working, we will use another approach
(i) Create a folder called "My Documents" under "Storage Card" and copy your ring tone(s) to \Storage Card\My Documents\
(ii) You may now select the ringtone from the phone option.

Tested on WM5/WM6
*Mind you, using a ringtone based in storage card will create unnecessary issues such as delay in ringing (larger mp3 file is obvious), phone slowness, hang, etc. It is always advisable to put your ringtone files under device \windows\rings\ folder.

4. Disable Message Sent Notification
i) Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\
ii) Change value of "SMSNoSentMsg" to "1"
iii) Save and soft-reset

5. Disable/Enable Threaded SMS view in WM6.1
i) Goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\OEM\
ii) Change value of "SMSInboxThreadingDisabled" to "0" (Threaded), or "1" (Normal)
*If you cannot find the OEM value, create OEM key in Settings and create a DWORD SMSInboxThreadingDisabled and set it to 1
iii) Save and soft-reset

6. Improve BT A2DP sound quality
i) Goto HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings
ii) For BitPool:
Microsoft suggests the following bitpool values for optimal buffer sizes.
30 - Low audio quality
40 - Medium audio quality
48 - High audio quality
58 - Excellent audio quality

For UseJointStereo: use 1 instead of 0
iii) Save and soft-reset

7. Disable annoying beeps when hanging up or call drops - Sometimes when a call ends or when you press the hangup button you get an annoying series of beeps. This can be disabled via:
i) Goto HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\CallDrop
ii) Default value is 'p', change it to blank by erasing the 'p'
iii) Save and soft-reset

8. Show/Hide Sim Contacts
i) Goto HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone
ii) Change value of "ShowSIM" to "0" (Disable), or "1" (Enable)
iii) Save and soft-reset

9. Change UMTS to 3G name
i) Goto HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting
ii) Change value of "LongNamePrefix" to "3G"
iii) Save and soft-reset

10. To remove all phone contacts - credits to kenso77
i) Go to File Explorer
ii) Go to My Device, scroll down till u find a file titled "PIM"
iii) Rename that PIM file to something else (ie PIMWHATEVER). Do NOT delete this file at this point of time else u`ll get an error message
iv) Perform soft reset. Ur PDA will generate a new PIM file once it restarts
v) All contacts AND calendar notes are now removed from ur PDA. U may now proceed to delete the renamed PIMWHATEVER file.

11. To save files into Storage Card via BlueTooth transfer instead of Main Memory - credits to roticanai92

i've tested it and it works like a charm. the default location is "\Storage Card\FTP", you can change the folder location under Start -> Settings -> Connections -> OBEX Inbox. on the other note, you may see some non-english when changing the location, don't bother, it's normal.

Soft reset: Use the stylus to lightly press and hold the RESET button on the bottom of your device.

Hard reset: Press and hold the Left SOFT KEY and Right SOFT KEY, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the bottom of your device. You will be presented with a menu saying 'press SEND to restore factory default, press END to exit', if you press SEND Your device will be set back to factory default settings.than Press "OK" to boot
(The L/R soft keys are the "--" keys just above the the Green phone and Red phone buttons) You can also use clear storage in settings. WARNING!!! HARD RESETTING WILL ERASE EVERYTHING ON YOUR DEVICE. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP!

Bootloader mode: Hold side Camera and POWER buttons together and reset with stylus.

1. Q: What is a Cooked ROM?
A: Technically, a cooked ROM is a set of system files that has been assembled from many different sources. It is the very nature of the fact that the phone is OEMed and sold as many different names that allow cooking of ROMs to exist. The famous place to get information and download Cooked ROM is XDA Developers Forum. The person who 'cooks' a ROM and make it available for download is normally addressed as 'cooker'.

2. Q: Why Cook a ROM?
A: Your PDA phone will normally pre-installed with a 'factory-defaulted' ROM, labelled as Official ROM. For example, Windows Mobile 5.0/Windows Mobile 6.0, depending on the OEM distributor. There are two major purposes to cook a ROM:

a. To provide your device with a most current, and stable code currently available. For instance, you may see many Cooked ROM at this point of time is using Windows Mobile 6.1 while there is no official release of WM6.1 at HTC website yet.
b. To customize the features that many others preferred. For instance, some will like a 'naked' a.k.a. Lite ROM while others will prefer 'Normal' ROM. The different among two is the number of application shifted.

3. Q: Should I flash/update my ROM?
A: Flashing your device to a Cooked ROM carries risk. The worst situation is you may damage your device permanently because you are writing to the flash memory section of your device. My advise is to weight those risks against the benefits of the outcome, and make your own decisions. Also, putting on a Cooked ROM will void your warranty (though, you can always flash back to the factory ROM before handing your device to the sweet counter girl). So, flash? Not Flash? Typical rule of thumb: "If it isn't broken, why fix it?"

4. Q: What is Hard SPL?
A: Hard SPL will allow you to flash cooked ROMs without SuperCID’ing your device and also will protect your device from being bricked in a bad flash. If a bad flash occurs it should remain in bootloader, and you can re-flash another ROM.
- Ability to bypass signature in NBH files (friendly for cooked roms)
- Ability to access radio bootloader (no more corrupted CID bricks)
- Shows itself as SuperCID when doing a rom upgrade (but it internally isn't)
- Can be uninstalled by just reflashing a shipped SPL, so no warranty is lost

5. Q: OK, I'm ready! How do I go about flashing to a Cooked ROM?
A: Refer to step-by-step guide below.

6. Q: When i start the ROMUpdateUtility.exe following the steps, my device displays tri-color screen, but then i received an error 246 saying that my device is not connected?
A: If you have received connection error 246 while trying to update your ROM, leave your device in bootloader (tri-color screen) and connected via USB and restart the Rom Update Utility.

Intro: If you have some basic understandings of Cooked ROM and understand the steps to flash your device from the Trinity Flashing Guide provided at link above, you need not to read this. This is very much a summarised version (possibly some add-ons) of the detailed guides.
Warning: This guide is only applicable to Dopod D810/HTC P3600/HTC Trinity device only. Any damaging outcome caused to other brands of PDA Phones, I held no responsibility. I should also, not responsible for any damages caused to your Dopod D810/HTC P3600 during the flashing process.

In general, there are two items you need to upgrade:
1. Hard SPL
2. Cooked ROM (of your choice)

Mother Step of All: Backup your data!
If you are flashing new Radio or SPL, you will not lose your data currently stored on device, except, for flashing Cooked ROM. Nonetheless, it is always recommended to backup your important data (such as Contacts, SMS/MMS Messages, Email, etc), just in case. There are many PIM backup software available, to simplify, I would recommend this software tool PIM Backup. Due to space limit, the detailed steps to backup your data will not be explained here.

1. Hard SPL
Instruction: For first-timer who is currently using official ROM, you will likely need to upgrade Hard SPL. For those who is already flashing to Cooked ROM at least once, and have not flashed back to official ROM, you need not to upgrade Hard SPL.

Step 1: Despite my instruction above, check the SPL that currently installed in your device. Press Power button, Camera button, and poke the soft reset button at the same time. If your SPL is 1.30.Olipro, 1.20.Olipro, or 9.99 CP, you are confirmed to have Hard SPL installed. Then, skip this step at once, otherwise, follow Step 2. If you successfully loaded into a Bootloader screen, you will see a tri-colour screen with SPL information.

Step 2: Download a Hard SPL of your choice from the link below:

Olipro's Hard-SPL 1.30
Olipro's Hard-SPL 1.20 - recommended
Des' Crash-Proof SPL

Step 3: Connect your device to desktop PC, make sure Microsoft ActiveSync is installed. If you have established a partnership, wait till the synchronization process is done (no more recycling at taskbar). Make sure your battery is at least 50% or above.

Step 4: Unzip the Files from downloaded Hard SPL, and click on ‘ROMUpdateUtility.exe’.

Step 5: Click few times 'Next' button as instructed, and finally, click 'Update' button once and 'Next' button twice.

Step 6: A progress bar will show on both your desktop PC and device. Do not execute any heavy tasks from your desktop PC, the best is to let the process finish. It will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

Step 7: A message "Congratulations, Your ROM update is now complete. Your PDA Phone is ready to use". will appear on the screen. Click on 'Finish' button to exit.

Step 8: Soft-reset your device and you are all set. To confirm if your have successfully upgrade Hard SPL, follow Step 1. You should see information such as 'IPL-1.00', 'SPL-1.20.Olipro' on the tri-color screen.

2. Cooked ROM
Warning: Make sure you have Hard SPL installed prior to flashing to a Cooked ROM.

Step 1: Download a Cooked ROM of your choice, and unzip the files to a folder. Cooked ROM links can be found in this post.

Step 2: Connect your device to your desktop PC via USB.

Step 3: Open the folder where you unzipped the files and click on ‘ROMUpdateUtility.exe’.

Follow Step 5 thru Step 8 in the steps above (Hard SPL steps).

Note: As my steps do not manually enter the BootLoader (tri-color) screen, you may receive error 246 saying the device is not connected. Do not panic, this is normal. At this point of time, watch up for your device, it will automatically entered into BootLoader screen, just re-execute the 'ROMUpdateUtility.exe’.

The problem with flashing Cooked ROM with HTC P3600i is the previous version of Hard SPL by Olipro is not working. Olipro has now completed a version of Hard SPL that allows this now. However, I saw it may not work with some Cooked ROM and for the successful one, there was little bugs here and there. Anyway, read it for yourself if you like to try (at own risk!)

Intro: I have been using many Cooked ROMs in the past, all of them from XDA Developers forum. FInixNOver is currently one of the most popular cookers after Mary (another cooker). His ROM is quite stable and fast since his very first version. I'm particularly preferred his Lite ROM which give me an instant 71MB of free ROM and ~28MB of RAM without anything installed. Even the Normal version also bundle with useful and needful application while some cookers may shift unintended application in their ROMs.

Free ROM & RAM: ROM: 71MB RAM: ~26MB (with HTC Home)
Memory: Not so good as compared to prior version, sometimes will drop to ~21MB after quiting some applications. and, not able to recover even with memory management program. Booting time is slower, too.
Battery: Acceptable, though, there are still some draining issues at times. Try turn off 3G if you don't really need it, the auto-switching of 3G and GSM networks will somehow constitute to the draining.
A2DP: Working fine but there was occasional skipping.
BT: No problem.
WIFI: No problem.
GPS: Working fine but taking longer time to locate satellite.
Camera: Working good.
Others: For Maxis Hotlink user that unable to use *122# to retrieve credit balance since WM6.0, to my surprise, WM6.1 is working now.
Ratings: 6.5/10
Summary: I'm particularly in favour of 3.1 as compared to V3.4; the current version seems to freeze my device pretty often. In overall, I'm quite happy with each version of his ROM. Thank you FInixNOver.

Others: This is based on official HTC Diamond ROM CE OS 5.2.19588 Build 19588.1.1.4. You will find the bundled applications after flashed. Oh yeah, there are many sound files there, and to my surprise, those sound clips are pretty good. Although I'm a big fun of lite ROM, I'm willing to give this a shot considering the stability and performance of this ROM. As for the bundled HTC Home Diamond version, if you do not like the default black version, you may customise it with white background and other add-ons from here.

Memory: Booting time is acceptable. Average free memory stays with 22MB~23MB, often need to use memory mgmt program to release more memories. It is even slower when have HTC Taks Manager installed, I have finally disabled it and replaced with WkTask instead and managed to claim back some memories. Generally, require improvement in terms on memory management. Though, program runs very much faster right after OS installation but not after programs installation. Maybe, one of my programs screwed it up.
Battery: Not so good specifically draining fast when listening to music with a2dp. Had tried turning off 3G but can't help much.
A2DP: Working great, minor skipping.
BT: Working fine.
WIFI: No problem.
GPS: Working great.
Camera: Working good.
Others: HTC Task Manager was installed with OS. There is a small bug where it does not appears on today's screen after a SR even it was ticked to be activated. Have to untick, SR then tick & SR. Kinda annoying. So, I replaced it with WkTask, small & useful!

Summary: Not much changes as in UI, as usual, the FInixNOver's look and feel. His ROM is always clean which allows much flexibilities for user like me who likes to install OEM apps on my own. This is definitely a good ROM worth flashing.

Free ROM & RAM: ROM: ~48MB RAM: ~22MB (with Manila2D)
Memory: Average free memory stays with 19MB~20MB. Not a bad memory management among other ROMs that claimed to have memory leakage issue when running TouchFLO. Nonetheless, if more free memory is your primary concern, I would suggest you don't use M2D.
Battery: Average. Somehow memory drains fast when running bluetooth.
A2DP: Acceptable, skipping still happening but not very often.
BT: BT transfer OK. Make sure to enable the 'Beam' in Comm Manager.
WIFI: No problem.
GPS: Not tested yet. Will report back.
Camera: Nothing to comment.

Summary: My first trial on Trinity Cooked ROM with TouchFLO bundled. The interface is definitely superb, you may also customize the settings and download the skins And yes, it runs slower as compared to cooked rom with htc home. You may, still be able to use HTC Home by disabling M2D from today's item and then install HTC Home and enable it. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the performance and usability, except that I don't really need some OEM apps bundled. Hopefully there will be a 'very lite' version sooner. Next, I will also try other M2D Trinity ROM in comparison to this. Syabas to the great cooker CV93+Oggi!

Summary: Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the memory performance and usability, except that battery and A2DP are not working as expected. The threaded SMS is also not working where once turned on, it will not able to display the content of SMS, you will need to deactivate it via registry. Hope that the final version will have those bugs fixed and also lite version can be made available.
