Recently there is a research that more females are into gaming nowadays. They are no longer the typical type of gals who only play games like Sim, Second Life and so on. You can find some pretty cool chicks playing Counter Strike, Warcraft, Star Craft, C&C, etc... Is this true? Lets find out.

as long as i hv been in mmorpg there has always been girls in our ranks. more then 2-3 for every 10 guys probably. quite nice looking too i might add.

thats a different poll altogether... this poll is about knowing how many gals vs how many guys in gaming world. It is fun to have the fairer sex to play with guys. A new type of challenge i might say. Guys are aggressive and gals are passive in gaming. So both will play the game with different strategy and style. It makes a lot of difference in multiplayer mode. We need balance in team if u r playing team deathmatch or something like tat.

Well, there is an article about his in In-Tech today. Quite interesting though. I can see some female votes in but they never reply the game they r playing. At least make guys understand the type of games u all play. Also trying to find female kaki to play the same game.... like MGS4, COD4, GTA4 (hmm... so many games with 4 in the end).

These 2 threads will head towards the same direction in the end.

As repeated many times, it depends on the gamer so you have to understand each individual girl gamer and not the entire group of girl gamers as a whole.

What I'm playing is on my signature. Not a big fan of FPS, only played a little of TF2 because it was interesting, prefer innovative games (like Portal, Katamari, Okami, WEWY) and RPGs with good storyline. Graphics do not matter as I don't discriminate games because they have low polygon rates. No money to buy PS3 yet (nor the time to play it).

tat why im here to find out wat type of games u all play... im not grouping gals in a whole.

There are two things that i wanna find out here:

1) how many gals vs guys ratio in gaming
2) wat type of game gals play in general

I just hope that the industry or any gamers here encourage more female to play games. It is just a thought...

I think the industry should not try and make games appeal to girls, make them as how they should be. Girls who like gaming will still like the game. Example of why the should not try and make the game appealing to girls: we get things like FFVII spin-offs with all the main characters looking like Gackt.

I got my little sister interested in GTA IV.eeek! She says it's her favorite game after the sims 2.

hahahha looking like Gackt... well, i just hope that the industry will encourage more females and also making the game just the way it is now. I mean nowadays we seldom see games that has guys looking like Gackt, eg. GTA4, MGS4, Bourne, Assassin's Creed, etc.... At least FF12 is good. Guys look cool and gals are pretty. Im sure they are improving on the detail of facial graphics.

I bet Little Big Planet game will motivate and encourage more gals to play cos it is really cute and fun. also, PS Home is coming soon. Im sure this will be the stepping stone to the future where gals and guys can play together and challenge.

i have a female fren who plays 360 all the time. cod4, army of two, gh2 n gh3. she likes em. btw, i find many dmc4 fangirls in msia. lol.

I also have a female friend who owns a Xbox 360.

She is quite hardcore and she likes smashing zombies in dead rising.

my sister only plays diner dash . I cant imagine my sister playing cs or dota or wow etc.

I am a hardcore gamer, my wife is a softcore gamer (played tetris and puzzle type games only), my younger sister loves playing puzzle games and 'platformer' game (she's more than 20 years old).

I played Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Budokai 3 with my gf, and she beaten me a few times. hahhaha... very fun indeed. I was like... SHIT! I lost to her! As u all know, DBZ: TB3 is a very fast buttion mashing game and must have good instinct and fast response time.

I've also noticed that there's quite a few LYN guys who put their gender as female. I'm pretty sure that the checkbox is in reference to one's gender no gender preference.

The only game genres I don't particularly fancy is FPS and sports games. I'll play almost anything provided it has good gameplay. But my favourites are RPGs (i,e Fallout, FF, Kingdom hearts Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter Nights, etc...yes I used to play paper D&D too ), RTS and action adventures (MGS, GTA and DMC). I used to play quite a bit of MMORPGs too but not so much now. There's just not enough hours in the day!

Aphrael is cool. play so many type of games. Wonder if u are the type who always aim head shot at FPS. hahahhha... I guess we can see Aphrael queueing up at Techasia buying MGS4 today.

I have a friend, a guy, who parades himself as female in many MMORPGs to get free items from the other guy players. For some reason a lot of guys fell for that tactic.

Yes being a female in a gaming world has some neat bonuses. =)

I can't aim for nuts! I'll be lucky to get a shot in even LOL. I'm a noob at FPS. I won't be there today. I'm not free + I think the normal and LE is overpriced. Yes exactly. I have a guy friend who does that also. Guys in MMOROGs are a tad more desperate for some reason.

most probably the guys in MMORPG are teenagers (around 13-17). So i might say that they are kinda keen to interact with gals in game. They feel excited to see gals playing game with them. It is a psychological effect. so yeah... they are willing to give gals (or virtual gals) freebies.

btw, is tat it?? only 7 female gamers here?? Ratio is 7:40?? wow... it is like 1 gal in every 5 guys. Not a very impressive figure.

Strategy and rpg are my fav...followed by mmorpg and adventure games...

I saw a girl playing MMORPG in a cafe near my neighbourhood. Really creepy looking and sit like Ryuzaki in death-note in a corner. Kinda cute though. That's one, there are a few female I know play console RPG and Sims series. My mom play Puzzle Bobble and she really a hardcore at that( I couldn't beat her)

i notice that not many gals like to play racing and fighting games...

so far i only know 2 gals who like to play those games.

Fighting.. they like those button mashers like Tekken and VF. Cos no need to time combo perfectly. just PPPPPP KKKKKKKK P+K

I happen to like Street Fighter...I love playing Guile and Blanka although I can do most of the other character moves also. I learnt all the combos and special moves from my guy friends heh

im definetely a hardcore female gamer..im an expert player in guitar hero.guitar hero is my current fav game.i own ps2 and wii..not so much into pc games..other games lik resident evil,god of war,devil may cry,smackdown vs raw..i perfer action adventure games to rpg or morpg.

HHmmmm my sis is still on the SIMS like games.... shes 20. But I got my 2 cute lil cousins 5 and 6 playing Mortal Kombat, but they end up playing Motor Kombat mini game... hahahahaha.....
