my question about the wifi software is..
is there any software that can detect who is using our wireless...?
and the software can disconnect the user...?

i just need the software because i be able to know who are using the wireless...
so anyone?
Tingwei89
hmm.. use password?
TechnoDude94
I lol-ed at this question. You don't need a software to know who's connected to your router. Just go to your internet browser and type in your router's default IP address (usually it: 192.168.1.1). It's your own will to learn on how to continue from here.

TS said on "wifi stealing detector" not on how to block people from stealing his wifi. doh.gif Read the freaking thread properly. shakehead.gif

use a smaller antenna?

anyway, at ur router, the person who stole ur wifi will be listed there at the dhcp list. unknown mac addresses are the thefts.
then u can proceed to mark those mac address to ban them.

How does using a smaller antenna work? Reducing area of connection will mean sacrificing your connection area. I however, agree on the DHCP method.

dont waste your time detecting.

encrypt your wireless (with WPA) + mac access list.
should be good enough.

Use LAN cable and put the cable all over the house? blink.gif I have got 5-7 computers, how can I use LAN cable? The router only got 4 port.
xdeathxcorex
thx for the advance..
but yea..i noe that we can encrypt our wireless...
okay..lets change topic, lets say "how to know whether there's people using our network?" (and of course they know the password)...
don't care if its stated as IP address...
at least we know that there's people around using the network...

so btw, about DHCP list..
what's thata all about?
and how to find them??
BurgerRI
Do a ping sweep across your DHCP assigned ip address range...once you identify an ip address which does not belong to one of your PC's you can then try to determine who or what it belongs to. You can then use a couple of freeware tools available such as nmap or GFI LanScan and others to determine the intruder. After that its up to you what you wanna do with his traffic, you can run a sniffer to capture his network traffic or you can try to use various hacker tools out there to gain admin level access to the PC....the fun things you can do goes on and on....
ketapang
i think there's an option where you can view computer connected to your network...

if i were u, i will just change password every now and then... 90% secure
once a month will do, then he will just give up

wpa
wpa very hard to hack, he only able to hack everytime u enter passphase
so he have to wait for u to login... like stalking
even u do enter passphase, he oni have 50% of success. if u r using WPA-PSK
the password must be long... prefer at least 8 character which consist of alphanumeric, symbolic, and case sensitive...

wpa2
no way to crack at the moment
support in xp sp3, else use your device wifi manager

ps: u can always let da hacker use your wifi since u already pay for the unlimited packages, dont be stingy...
he work hard for free access, something to encourage young ppl to learn more

since you are rich, let the thieves steal some of your money.
well if some1 wanna learn lock opening technic , learn it from the locksmith & not by experimenting with your neighbor's car.

u can check in ur router page.

which show who is connected to ur wireless router.

actually got a chinese program than can control all the client
include download rate, upload rate, bandwidth, disconnect it, and many more..
my friend have it to control his housemate for torrent and youtube,,,
try find at google.. and it was a shareware..
Gyokumen_Koushu
i think hes merely a kiddo cracker. Try sniffing to confirm the fact. If yes, then u can play with him. If u dunno hw to play. Perfect time to learn. Nothin is better when some kiddos lay themselves on to your trap thinking they are the predator.

It's very common/easy to crack into wifi even if u hide your ssid/encrypted. So cant help it. Gotta find out his ip. Ban it. If u jz wanna make love not war.
becham
actually, there is a software..
my dad use it...
it was one time that my wifi at home isnt secured.
my dad found this software and installed it...
and found that one of my neighbour using my fast streamyx FOC!! vmad.gif
(my streamyx at home is very2 fast and stable)..

go and try it...trial here..but if u r clever enough, for sure u can find its *ahem*...

You go and connect 5-7 computers via switch lor hmm.gif Anyway,Wifi is the best way,for my case its works fine.Neighbours dont have wifi too,so i no need to worry about it.
xdeathxcorex
finally...
i use cain and abel for wifi stealer detector...
also i use wireless key view to view people's wireless encrytped wifi password...idk how to say that..lol
Nakasha
dun juz simply boast on how you did dis n dat. and ur only way to view other ppl wireless key is if u have control on that user's pc.

stick to TS main topic la.

- checking dHCP for unknown user is uselesss, as one who hack into ur network tot of dis already, and would proceed on using static instead, thus DHCP checking useless

-mac address, pointless, hacker can always change deir adapter MAC Address to any of the legitimate MAC Address for that network. useless too

-limit ur available range of ip assignable through custom subnetting, hacker still got the choices of screwing all connected client ( in another word , sending deauth packet to the network , he cant access, no one can access)

basically no matter which way we try to prevent, there still be ways to counter.

if i were TS, i would dial my streamyx using my PC, enable ICS share it to ur wireless router/ap to others
installed a winpcap or any other packet snatcher tools .
any internet connection would then go through ur pc when routed out to internet.
with those information,
u can then backfire the hacker ^^

the only bad news is, if the objective of hacker is not to gain free internet access, but juz for the sake of crippling down ur network, den i rest my case

^^
kok_hui
Some antivirus software like pc-cillin got the wifi protection, can detect when someone connected to your wifi.

Yea, i think this is the best way to protect ppl from using ur internet for free. At my house i can get free internet as my neighbour doesnt protect it with password. Free internet for me cool2.gif (it pretty fast watching vid on youtube)

I also heard about some program like backtrack that can crack down the wireless network. Any opinion to against this illegal act?

backtrack is not a program.. backtrack is more like a modified version of linux, includes various security tools that helps ethical hackers to spot vulnerabilities on a network.. but can be used to do evil things also.. i've used it, lots of useful tools if u know how to use them, but useless if u dunno how to utilize them.. some are command-line based, so good luck smile.gif

any1 noe what is that chinese software mentioned above? (at least name it )

i dont actually believe in wireless esp in internet conenction.
i feel not secure at all.

maybe the guy next door is recording your keystroke....
so wired is the best!

Just check router status page or get a radius server :-) sure nobody can hack into your network

actually, that is a more secure method.. less chance of ppl hacking into the network directly assuming ur firewall works
