Alright... I have problems that I can't explain regarding my internet connection. At times I am cursed with ping ranging from 600-1000 while trying to play TF2.

Is there anyone else who uses Streamyx with two or more computers connected through a router? When only my computer is active and I have no downloads or torrents using bandwidth, I get a good ping in TF2, but as soon as I start a torrent or the other computer uses any significant amount of bandwidth my ping skyrockets.

Does anyone else have this sort of setup or experience these kinds of problems? Thanks in advance for any helpful replies!

not really i am running thru a router with two comps so yea but i rarely lags only on certain days though , and abit to add pls dun criticize dota players its not their fault only some of the community turn bad because of the game being too popularize , theres still a handful of nice dota players out there like me

All you have is 1mbps (or maybe 512kbps). If it's used up in torrent downloads or by other computer users, that's it. Your game gets allocated less and therefore you lag.

Well, that's my theory anyways.

Added on June 12, 2008, 12:22 amBtw, is it only me, or does any one else facing the problem where if I join any server which contains a HTML-ish welcome page (such as that of e-club's), whenever I join another game (doesn't matter what the welcome page is, as long as I see the welcome page again), my TF2 just freezes. No exceptions. What the hell is wrong :-\

You can solve/moderate this by turning on something called QoS (Quality of Service) in your modem/router. (AKA throttling, yes sort of the type ISP uses)
So basically the idea is to give TF2 traffic passing tru your router a higher priority and lower down priority for torrent traffic. Usually can be set with port no. and local LAN ip adddreses. You can lower pings as high as 600ms to 200-300ms if you have it on. Of course its best if you turn off torrents completely.

Also good torrent settings helps reduces pings also (guide for Azu: http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Good_settings)
Opening to many active connection makes ur ping jump high

Also using wireless connects are also known to have lags, my advice use wired ethernet when ever possible =)
OR adjust ur card/router/AP antenna for max signal. or you could build your own antenna extander ( http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template2/index.html )

my connections is very stable (under 100 usually 150 at most, SG or MY servers), (despite the fact i'm having TM Nut as my ISP and its service Screamyx).. mabey its because i have my router on 24/7, hanging onto the good IP/sections on the network.

Medic and other player in the team switch class with Each other constantly.

I feel that if THE SAME player who always be a medic died from stray shots (Means that the medic died unseen by the enemy) the other team will instant know that it's time to push cause they can see on screen who died

However if they donno what died, they will be more carefully,therefore delay the advance.

Diguising as a friendly medics helps too....It attracts fire from enemy.If u get killed and they somehow yell 'MEDIC DOWN !' 'PUSH ! PUSH'
