Oh wow, barely 3 weeks and suddenly my psp lcd was broken.

I didn't know how it happened as it was working fine 3 hours ago, then i kept it in my pouch and in my cupboard (no bump or anything) then after a few hours i kept it in my pocket, when downstair and tried to on it but i noticed a crack at the lcd screen and it's all dark.

Only sounds can be heard. What can i do?

how much is the local cost to repair it?

or should i buy it online since currently i can get one for around RM155 .. But then i have to DIY to fix it *plenty of guides available on the net*

Any recomendations ? ideas?
penmarker
repair it yourself is cheaper. nod.gif just need a T1 screwdriver, 00 flat screwdriver. thats it. that T1 screwdriver is roughly RM25-35 depending where u buy it.
also, you got little bro/sis in ur house? pets maybe?. crack doesnt 'just appear' like that.

Thank you Penmarker. But, it happened in a span of 4 hours in which i was all the time beside my room and no one else entered my room. Thats y i am rather confused on how this might happen. Maybe it happended when i put it in my pocket? but my pants is a cotton pants and there is nothing in the pants as well. Also my psp was in my pouch.. :S

btw, why do i need 2 screwdrivers for? I thought the psp has only 1 size of screws? please do tell me more about it biggrin.gif

btw, if possible provide pics of this screw drivers as well. This could be my 1st step to modding the psp tongue.gif

Nope, psp slims do not have 1.50 kernel support. You however can run a SMALL NUMBER of 1.50 kernel homebrews by using either TimeMachine or eLoader.TimeMachine is better, but to me,it isn't exactly useful.Just curious, what homebrew is the one you have with 1.50 kernel?

Most developers these days tend to port all their homebrew releases to 3.xx/4.xx kernels because it's a way better one than the 1.50 one. So,i don't see a problem wink.gif

1st= check if it is really for psp slim. cause normally slim's lcd cost around rm170.sometimes it wrote 'psp slims lcd', but the pic shows phat lcd.
phat lcd around rm150

2nd= the place it delivers, some dont send it to malaysia. some supplyer charge delivering. some not.
normally supplyer from hongkong dunt charge for delivery.

Well it's all sorted out wink.gif

Yes, it's for psp slim. Psp phat cost much more cheaper than that. I want to ask.. How about the backlight? must i buy one more or can i use my PSP default backlight (abit noob in this issue)

2nd: yes they have world wide shipping and it's free. Only thing is they say max of 2 weeks delivery. So i guess i have to wait but i dnt really mind biggrin.gif

if u replace the screen, the backlight will be okay too since the backlight is inside the screen. unless the fuse is blown, that'll be repaired too with a new screen. nod.gif

Alright,i'll make myself as clear as possible.A new custom firmware usually is released in order to allow custom firmware users to enjoy newer features that are packed with the new official firmware as well as to play newer UMD games. The very same applies to dumped/pirated games.

If you're NOT a regular UMD game player(You prefer playing homebrews only),any custom firmware, would be alright.

Are you on 3.71m33?
If you are,do this :

Alright mDinie, follow this simple guide by me.

1)Go to recovery mode and set your kernel to 3.71 (Recovery : Hold the off switch for about 3-4 seconds, then HOLD R and boot your psp up.You should be in recovery mode. Now go to configuration, and hit X at the third option (Game Folder Hombrew) until it says "371".

2)Then download 4.01m33 files

3)Download this too 4.01 eboot

4)Now open the 4.01m33 installer (step 2),and you should see several files and folders including the UPDATE folder.

5)Copy the UPDATE folder and paste it in PSP/GAME.

6)Now,time for the 4.01eboot

7)Copy the 401.PBP and paste it in the UPDATE folder as well.

8)It should be like this ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/eboot.pbp && 401.PBP

9)Execute the installer from the game tab.

10)After the installation finishes,REMEMBER TO CLICK X OR YOU'LL BRICK.

11)Done! Enjoy!

My fat psp is on FW 3.11.
if i want to change it to CFW, so i need to downgrade or hard mord right?
if i want downgrade, it will need me Lumine UMD, which i couldnt manage to find one.

so the only option that available, is to hard mord to psp and install to the CFW 3.73 right?
Playboy21
Nope. You need a Pandora's Battery to hack your psp.You do NOT need to "hardmod" your psp in order to hack it.

There are several methods to create a Pandora's Battery.

1)Using an already hacked psp.
-Just run the installer and the Magic Memory Stick creator on the psp and DONE!

2)Crack open the psp battery and cut a pin in it
-Then create the Magic Memory Stick on your psp using an easy-installer etc.

*NOTE* : The battery hardmodding process can be quite an hassle as it can cause multiple injuries if not done right. Also,it might take several batteries before you can get it to work. This in other words means, pure waste of money.

*It's BETTER to get an original battery instead of a "Cetak-rompak" one.*

Tell me which process suites you better, and i'll give you instructions on how to do it.

Hi ya,

I'm looking for a way to organise the content on my psp, homebrews etc. Came across something called filer but can't seem to make it run on my rig. Any recommendations? Also trying to run the latest CXMB, but the themes are no where to be found under the Themes menu. I'm pretty sure the plug-in is enabled in the recovery menu. Btw, my rig's still running CFW m33-2, so could it because the themes are no longer supported? Any where to get 'old' themes?

Cheers.

Hi Playboy,

Here are my answers:

1. Using custom firmware 3.71 m33-2. Kinda outdated, but i remember reading somewhere that newer cfw kinda slows games down. Hence, don't think of upgrading it anytime soon.
2. Been trying a few themes, and can't remember their names. But all are not working. Any good old themes that u think that will still work on the 3.71?
3. Yes. All themes had been placed under the mentioned folder. The root, ms0: also has the cxmb folder in place.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

I'm sorry to say,but that's a very silly thing to do.Now that you've upgraded it from 4.01m33 --> 4.05 official firmware, you can only revert back to your previous firmware(custom firmware) if you have a Pandora's Battery.

Read the following Pandora's Battery creation methods, and tell me which ope suits you best.

1)Softmod the battery
-This requires you to have access to an ALREADY hacked psp a.k.a homebrew capable

2)Hardmod the battery
-This involves you cracking open the battery using a pick or anything like that, and snapping off a pin.(Very risky process, and you might cause injuries to yourself if it's not done right (No joke,i'm serious). This method might also take a couple of tries before you can get it to work, and this means....more batteries and a complete waste of money.
-Remeber,do it wrong, and your battery is cooked.
If you ask me,i'd go with the 1st process. It all depends on ya' smile.gif

If you don't have any of the above, get an original battery and a genuine memory stick and give it to someone you trust in the forums. They will convert it into a Pandora's Battery.

Hi Playboy,

Tried the theme that u recommended, along with some other CTFs for 3.71m33 but still can't make them to run. Any idea? The plug-in is definitely enables in the Recovery menu. Or is it because this version is not supported for 3.71m33-2?

Btw, will applications run slower on the latest CFW as compared to my current version?

where can new firmware run slower than old firmware?
new should always be IMPROVING mah, instead some old firmware cannot run the things from the new firmware.
