I have a condition called Male Pattern Baldness
Been to yun nam once..sure they want to cheat our money only mad.gif

so I did lots and lots of reading and actually found that this COMMON hair problems is caused
by hormon called DHT (dihydrotestosterone)

Latest article that I read in mens health magazine stated that 3 main treatments for this
problem, that is minoxidil (anti-hypertensive drug),finasteride(anti-DHT,generic name is propecia) and last
one is laser treatment.

So..any of u guys out there have tried any of this treament?
please share with us your review about the efficacy, cost and side effect of the treatment..and yeah where to
get it from also..

thanks in advance

saw some tv show about laser treatment. it does work but dont expect too much on top of its pricey cost. hair does grow back but not to the extent of normal hair growth. they are just like baby hair, fine and scacre.

as for finasteride, they might work well too. but they are hormonal drugs and they might mess up with the body too. they are teratogenic means will cause disability to baby if you / your partner conceive. they cause breast enlargement in male, decrease libido, impotence and ejaculation abnormality.

as for regaine (monoxidil), they are slightly safer but risk of weight gain, water retention, hypotension etc is still there.

would you take the chance of having hair but risking yourself to those side-effects?

Am curious, why do you think Yun Nam is cheating customers?
chgchksg128
haha....notorious YUn Nam
go to my blog and check it out, I am one of the victims, and many more
boonies
Pity you to be a victim of Yun Nam...however..you must understand..a lot of people are desperate for stopping hair loss...so what these 'hair care specialists' tell them they will do..it's an act of desperation...that is why they can open so many shops so fast..their treatment methods besides cosmetic options are not proven to stop hair loss..so think twice before trying.

as far as i know clinical and consumer results show very little side effect for minoxidil and if there's it is not serious...

as for finasteride its side effect will caused temp ED... but not to worry...

there's also hair transplant...

minoxidil is the safest n most pratical... but this is if you're really balding... because it is troublesome if you have hair on and you want to apply it on the roots...

basically finasteride is systemic hormone(u take it orally)
so,expect side effect to be systemic too

but I heard that rogaine is topical preparation, and as u just apply it to your scalp,
little or none side effect shud be experienced (theoretically)

any of u guys tried rogaine/minoxidil?
whats the cost n where to get it?

theoretically side-effect still presents although it mainly act locally. because some amount of the ingredients will still get through into the blood stream. besides topical preparation themselves have their own s/e such as rashes, allergy, etc.

regaine sold over the counter in uk for about £24.

Proscar (Finasteride) is used for treating Enlarged prostate..which is caused by excessive DHT in your body. Scientists found out that people taking Finasteride can reduce hair loss...so this is one of the first discovery of hair loss..Then Merck made Propecia..which is actualy 1/4 of the power of Proscar..to treat hair loss..so if you buy Proscar which is a lot cheaper and cut it into four pieces and take it daily like Propecia..it is the same thing.

As for Rogaine..which is Minoxidil 5% Extra Strength and 2% for Women..is a Potassium Channel Agonist..its function is to stimulate the receptor cells like your hair follicles to grow..imagine it like <removed> for hair..but..it does not stop DHT..when you apply Minox to your scalp..some of it will be absorbed to your bloodstream..which might cause some side effects like head aches and such..but not everyone gets it..you don't need to buy rogaine...any generic that has 5% minox is the same. Try Head Way..its a bit cheaper..can get it in any pharmacies..

that question you got to ask him..but there are a lot of products that you can use to conceal the baldness...hair transplant is also an option..its very popular in other countries but less popular here..

it doesnt work that way.

first, do you know how small the size of the finasteride 5mg? it is very small.

2nd, specifically if you go for proscar, do you know what is the shape of proscar, i can tell you it is triangular shape, how to divide the tablet into 4 equivalent pieces?

3rd, there is formulation science and distribution of drug in the body. simply said, splitting some tablets doesnt generally give you the exact amount of actice ingredient you want. so as the action of the tablet might be altered when broken down and taken into the body e.g. dissolution of tablet in stomach and absorption rate.

yes pharmacy does have such medicines. but they are prescription only medicine. only available upon doctor approval.

going to buy the medicines without seeing a doctor for benefit/risk assessment is just plain stupid, frankly.

for risk assesment dont think i need that
im a healthy 22 year old male
plus im a medical student,so i know basic action of this drug, wont cause much problem to your system,
just maybe can cause so much damage to my wallet tongue.gif

dats why want to go and ask pharmacist first the cost of this treatment
boonies
Not everyone can use Propecia..if you have Liver diseases or kidney problems then it's best not to use this drug. This drug has side effects as stated by the Manufacturer Merck seePropecia Website for details. While most people won't have much side effects..its better to ask your doctor before buying prescription medication..in case you have some allergies like G6PD or something..Prevention is better than cure..even Aspirin is so common not everyone can take it.. thumbup.gif

and you are a disgrace, for knowing what is prescription only medicine but straight away going to the pharmacy getting a supply without doctor advise.

do you ever to read the PIL of a medicine, 'never use the medicine unless with your doctor advise'?

Hi guys, sorry i accidentally surf to this man topic, but a lot of ladies also have hairfall problems too, like me cry.gif ...
I have used this Shiseido Vita Voltage Shampoo for months, the result is good thumbup.gif but it only stop the hairfall, for hair grow i think i need to try the series tonic. And for a better result to stop hairfall, the method of washing your hair is very important, you cannot use your nails to scratch your hair scalp this will make your hair fall even more and hurt your scalp, you need to add some water to the shampoo to lighten it and use your finger to massage your hair scalp, the corrrect way of "washing head" is to wash the hair scalp not the hair. After few wash you will discover your hairfall has less tongue.gif ...

Sorry to come to this Men’s topic. After reading these I am kind of worry.
I have questions on Propecia which my husband has been taken it for more than a year. It was introduced to me by one of colleague who has been taken it for many years. My colleague is 65 yrs old and his wife has given birth to a baby girl 2 years ago while on Propecia.
My question is will Propecia really caused disability to baby or decrease libido, impotence and ejaculation abnormality…or long term bad side effect even you stop. Can anyone answer me on this? sad.gif

yes it can cause all those side effects as propecia is actually an anti-testosterone,
it causes our body or to be specific, prostate glands to reduce its function in converting 'raw' testosterone hormone
to a 'functional' one.
and as a result to this, man will have low libido(sex drive) and even impaired capability to produce sperms.
however this is theoretically, exactly how many percentage of this propecia users usually experiences all those side effects is unknown
(to me at least)..this usually needs a thorough medical reseach and data collection to know the number of users that been affected by
continuous use of propecia..and as far as i know, none has been done.

but if ur husband has been taking it for more than a year, and you/he doesn't complaint of any of those side effects (you also can be affected indirectly brows.gif can't you ) most likely your husband is not affected.

if anything happens, stop the medication and seek proper medical advise
