i dint upgrade my catalyst for quite a long time....

I've installed Cat 8.5 yesterday but haven't tested playing any games yet...
So far so good ler.. Last time update from 8.3 to 8.4 i seen an improvement when playing Hellgate London..

need to uninstall the old catalyst 1st right b4 install the new one? right?

Well yesterday i was abit lazy so i just install without uninstalling the old drivers..
It worked no prob, just have to reinstall my rivatuner ler..

i alr installed it yterday, i usually jz copy paste the whole driver tho n haven't encounter any prob....

i ran 3dmark 06 n compare with the previous 8.4 n didn't have much improvement nor do i have a any prob so it's ok i guess

91°C within 3 minutes, i doubt that you can play game within 3 minutes, wonder if took longer... we pretty sure, don't want that right...

can fry the egg already.
u take out ur graphic card.
and screw out the cooler. and clean the TIM and apply a new TIM (artic MX-2 if can.lol)
then screw back the cooler. make sure ur cooler copper base can touch ur GPU as well.
then check the temperature.
if no artifact in ATI tools. i dont think the card got problem with GPU.

it is not normal...can fry egg edi....normally around 70*c for hd3870 full load



try to check ur fan speed too (can check using lavalys everest)

I will try to open up the cooler tonight and i got that artic MX-2,is there any software to monitor n adjust the fan speed?where to download it? by the way the plastic shield look meldted already...damm my new rig make me head pain...thx for the advise man

My fan is spining mayb its on low speed is there any software to crank it up?..if send for rma have to wait a month again haizzzzz

You can monitor ur fan speed using Lavalys everest.

You can adjust/crank up ur fan speed using ATitool 0.27Beta3

i wonder whether can ATI implement driver control of the cooling fan.. via a speed control table on its CCC? to override the bios on the vga card

my 3870x2 is idling at 68C... and 58C if got fan blowing directly on top of the card

my fan is running at 40% at 88c how to crank the fan spped up

my ATI CCC not working after update, install twice already.....

try install ATI 8.5 driver then run 3Dmark Vantage then you know

It is very-very weird...40% fan speed for Hd3850/Hd3870 shuld not go beyond 60*c while idle

i look at the gc stored in box now..The plastic no deform but the aluminium base got abit not smooth..i mean the colour got torned off at some side...i think tauruskong ur gc got porblem...coz mine still able increase fan speed when it is hot..i try change my casing to cm690 to see if its help..

it seems ur bios got something wrong

most of fan control problem is due to bios problem..

oh ya,

How long to rma a card...gadgetzone need at least a month.Last time i rma my mb it took 45 days with out my come im dead

Previously I posted on V2 that I could not run 3DMark Vantage 1.0.1 or 1.0.0 even with Vista Ultimate SP1, HIS HD3870 and Catalyst 8.5. The program just stop at the "INITIALIZING GUI" screen. Now I found out why.

I have to install the ageia drivers to make it work. If I uninstall it or do not select it for install in the first place, the program would not go beyond the "INITIALIZING GUI" screen. How f***ed up is that?!!!

Why the hell should I install the drivers of something that I do not even have to run the program WHEN IT IS NOT EVEN A PREREQUISITE/REQUIREMENT FOR THE PROGRAM TO WORK?!!!

there is some games that can run Physx Ageia without even need the hardware (only need software), maybe it same in vantage case.

yeah...the pre-requisite did not state that...but i just select typical install
