i need 16 marble to upgrade my town hall to lvl 4, any idea where newbie can get this ?

Just go to your trading post (if you've build one) and search for someone who offers marbles for the best price. Or you can try pillage towns in nearby islands, but it's quite risky.

EDIT:
I'm new to the game too (still lvl 3 town), so there might me some other way that I don't know. And I'm happy to find out about this game, I'm a fan of the Civillization series.

You know Jack Sparrow so well my fren! It's sulphur that I find it hard to pillage for. Maybe it's bcos I'm using sulphur faster than other resources

That guy why so chicken. but 100 ballistas is better than 100 archers. I see cities with 20 ships and above I won't think about attacking him already unless 1 loot give me 70k and above. Too time consuming and expensive also.

Oh and guys in case no one knows yet I found out how to unstuck your caught spy without having to wait already. Once your spy gets caught, the message will stay there and it won't allow you to train spies right? You just send out another spy, will auto unstuck it. Can train spy now.

Man, the only reason why 0_o hasn't begun operations on me yet is that because the leader had PMed me before and asked whether or not I wanted to join the alliance. I replied that it was "very tempting" and "i was interested" but declined at the moment as I was trying to bulk up. I'm trying as fast as I can to reach the 7k score to get in LYN-e. My neighbors in my island had either converted to 0_o or end up fighting for dear life like the guy next door who's harbour got blockaded by a member of 0_o.

You have to blockade their harbor first. Pillage 101: If need to transport troops over water, you have to destroy the target's fleet.
