Although I myself do know a wee-bit about cars and do install some cheap accessories here and there (not Turbo :swt:). I'm more into car detailing myself and more interested in driving a car around town with a nice-looking paint rather than flying it across the North South Highway on 210km/h.

Just wondering are there anybody else here that are also into car detailing icon_rolleyes.gif

A polished car is not complete without also having shiny tires. Meguiar’s Gold Class Endurance High Gloss tire shine is the best I tried on so far. And the best part is that the shine lasts!

No matter how fast you modify a proton it's still a proton.

It's just a matter of opinion.

Well I'd prefer to fly down NS highway in a nice looking car with great paint job. I'm into car detailing but don't have the time or place to do it, so I have to send it out to get it pampered and detailed all the time. I'm into car detailing.. just that I don't like doing the detailing bit.. ahhahahaa..

yup.. earlier last year I was so 'semangat' to do my own detailing. Spend about rm150 on car detailing products. In the end I only do it twice (last year) and all those stuffs now gathering dust. Reason being; time consuming, tiring, and u really need to pay attention to details (my mom sums it up for me; pemalas laugh.gif ) to get the desired finish. sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

Now I'll make it a point to send the car for some pampering at 'car saloon' at least once every 4 months. sweat.gif

Btw, if you guys sent ur car out for detailing. Where do sent? Pls share some info.

Do you mean touching up your paint? ("dim chat") Always wondered how would it turn out. Won't the paint have different shades of colours instead?

It's true as it is a really back-breaking jobs, along with the variety of items you need sad.gif I guess its very dependent as for me I find the end result very satisfying. Really like to feel the smoothness and mirror-shine of the car after the job smile.gif

i have personnaly see the fantastic work ...simply the great and simple. yet with thier slogan ...even your maid can polish yr car; why? bcuz simply wash your car, use clay to clean all the dirt on teh surface on yr car and the apply the REVOL, water polishing and anti-static .. next best thing happen .. you car can shine and last for months of months.

wouldn't this product sound impresive?
Aeon_Clock

How do you go about applying the product? Just wipe on and wipe off?
binks
yea!
just like appling the water polishin ..
then wide it off the normal way ... between second you wipe it off..
your car shine.
tht the way ....
just as easy as ABC.

you wash your car ... your clean your car using clay (surface ... dirt) thne u apply the polish ... then apply the anti-static (protect the color, and shine the car) ...
that is ...

bets part it .. don't need worry about terkena those rubber part, mirror .. or anything ...simply wipe it off with a wet cloth .... then done.

really easy ..
K3N
Hmm...It'll definitely shine and protects but it wont be able to get rid of those swirl marks and scratches which are eye sores to detailing enthusiasts laugh.gif
How's the water beading performance? biggrin.gif

I'd still prefer the good old high quality wax every month to keep the water flying off the car when I drive. I have a dark car and the only thing that makes gloss out of a dark coloured car is high content Carnauba wax. I do it monthly as all the 'months after months of gloss' promised by all other products are just gimmicks, unless they can change the law of physics and chemistry.

Nothing applied to the paintwork will stay there unless it is electronically bonded to the metal. I've seen plenty of these products before and basically it looks good silver coloured cars but not dark ones like mine.

There are people looking for cheap protection but there are also people who look for protection and looks at the same time. There are plenty of products that will give long term protection at the cost of a poor finish. There is still no replacement for good old carnauba wax at the moment to produce the deep glossy shine on dark cars.

That would depend solely on the compounding and polishing steps.

From what I have read, this looks like a Polymer Sealant to me, correct me if I'm wrong.

I got to agree with sleepwalker on this one as after so much R&D Carnauba Wax is still your sole choice when it comes to deep, wet gloss shine smile.gif Something that most Polymer Sealants just can't match at all.

Yesterday, got one customer driving Mini Cooper-S, argue with me for quite some time just to get a RM20 off. Pfftt, some rich guys can be so stingy........
thom_chai
Same here. Monthly wax with a good quality carnauba wax is the best way to protect the paint finish and looking good at the same time.
ryan_hustler
how much does the typical rate for detailing cost? you guys do it monthly?
Lim Ling Yang
I detail monthly.
Wash Clay Wax.
I rarely polish....too many scratches to polish them off.....
Wax I support meguiars seriously the best. Get the hard paste ones.

hmm, that day i got ask in a shop in sunway, call Step. the boss quote me RM380 ... full detailing(5 layers, purpose is to remove scratch) + interior cleaning, if want detail the engine then add RM15.

if you want wax only then not sure the price ... but wax can be DIY ... only polish better use the rottary machine which cannot simply use it, else will spoilt the paint.

normally once a year, monthly more to maintenance like wax ...

RM700 is normal for a full detatiling, where is it ? autodetailer or hypercoat ? their workmanship is excellent

If you do full detailing once a year, by the end of 5 years, you would have no clear coat left. It would have all been polished off. Polishing is not maintenance, polishing is remedy. I do not want to say repair as it is not actually a repair job. You can't remove scratches and the only remedy is to polish of a layer surrounding the scratch.

Maintenance is bringing the car to a good carwash center so that they do not scratch or create swirl marks. If you DIY washing, then you should use the best terry cloth or microfibers.

Actually, if you are not an expert I highly recommend that you use a dual action polisher. After checking out so many jobs, I only know a very selected few who are able to use a Rotary Machine to do a compounding job without generating Holograms & Swirl Marks. Most of them use Wax/Sealant to cover their "handiwork" so you think that they did a good job initially. Always be sure to check your paint throughly after 1 month you did a detailing job.

It is worth to spend time, money, and effort on car detailing.

I am spending more time on 'restoring' clarity of the plastic/glass headlamps, tailights, tyre coating, interior detailing(vinyl, leather, carpet, and rubber cleaning and conditiong)..

This is crazy detailing notworthy.gif rclxms.gif thumbup.gif

Show me one? The one's I've been too are all exclusive to 1 product. Only the normal car wash centres will put Autoglym products next to Meguiars and mix and match. Pros don't. I go to Carnauba Autospa and they are exclusive to Zymol. I also went to Hypercoat which exclusive to Meguiars.
