Crap. I was just at Sunway Pyramid this evening, and one shop there was selling the MSI Wind with the same specs as what I bought (2 gigs RAM, 320 gig hard drive) at RM1,950. He even threw in a free Microsoft Wireless Optical 2000 mouse worth about RM150. Grr...

If anyone's interested in that deal, the shop is Qube, Unit 16 Digital Center, Sunway Pyramid.

Sales guy's name is Moni.

derravile: yeah, the guys at MyPC are really friendly. I don't mind that I paid a bit extra for my MSI Wind. Had fun shooting the breeze with Andrew. Dude's only 19 but I can't believe he's a hardcore Doom 1 player. Must've been like...5, when it first came out. blink.gif

Hi guys, I'm an Aussie living in Thailand at the minute, but I have to do a border run in the next week and am heading to KL in Malaysia.

Where is the best place for me to go and purchase a wind or Eeepc. Ideally I would like to see both b4 making the decision!

Is there a mypc or similar there abouts?

Any help most appreciated!

Hi Dave smile.gif

depending of what kind of usage you are looking at. the latest version of Eeepc comes with 5 hours of batt life and with a wireless draft N card. and multi touch sensor for the touch pad.

Price should be about RM2100 ++

as for

Msi wind, the one currently in the market which has 6 cell is the "limited edition version" but running for Wireless G only. running about RM2200
>>http://www.computerwar.com.my/pub/AugPackage.pdf<< you can see the sample picture. by the way I am not trying to promote computerwar.

design it's own preference.

I like wind hehe

please consider warranty as well cause if i not mistaken, MSI Wind doesn't come with International warranty "for malaysia unit"

jumanz: well, they still offer 1-year warranty, but not sure how that works. They might just service it in-house or something.

AFAIK their distributor is Media Forte to maybe you can go back to them if any problem.

Enlight is another distributor, whom Jayacom takes from. Media Forte to me seems more trustable hmm.gif

Any Wind U100 user upgraded their Wifi mini card? I changed mine into an Intel 4965AGN to get Wireless-N. I'm wondering is anybody tried using an Atheros WiFi mini card. The Intel one doesn't do 300Mbps with my DLink DIR-655 router.

opps before that i need to clarify ~ i am using a ABG version no AGN smile.gif

hehehe rage wise is better then the Original one

if you notice for Msi Wind the standard antenna has only + and - terminal .

for DraftN cards you will that 3 terminals

so i got the ABG version instead just to cracking my head to think how do I gonna place the 3rd terminal antenna to obtain optimum speed.

well basically you need to look for those who wish to change their wifi card from their labby.
sometimes you will be able to spot these devices in Garagesell smile.gif

in Ebay also ... you can also visit shops in Lowyat "specilize in recon machine" they should have .

Aiya tongue.gif ...for a moment make me shiok only...
though it can also turbocharged during battery powered.
iRonTech
laugh.gif yup..that would be bonus if MSI allow it under battery operating.

but i guess it must drain battery much faster

update...for those after flash to ver 1.08, u need disconnect AC power & battery for 10 seconds to let the "Embedded Controller" digest to prevent some weird problem. - according to some taiwan forum

I intend to buy U100, I was told by the sales person that it has a 4 cell battery and U90 has 3 cell battery.
Is it true?

How about the battery life for wifi on only?

U100 = 10" LCD, U90=9" LCD??

either 3 or 6cells only. 4cells battery only available from Dell mini Inspiron
jumanz
ok u100 comes with 3 cell and 6 cell package only

for u90 the earlier batches all uses 3 cell. UK selling 6 cell as well for u90 model.
please check the front specification before purchasing or the mAH on the batt it self

Where can I get this BIOS, iRonTech? I've always been wondering what this review was banging on about the overclocking feature which i can't activate on my MSI Wind, not mentioned anywhere in the manual or the MSI website.

Also, is there any dealer in Malaysia who could provide the 6-cell (and possibly 9-cell) batteries for the MSI Wind? I unfortunately got mine with the basic 3 cell battery.
