You got a white? The white is pretty rare, and the price is very stable. So RM1899 for the white or pink, is as good as you can get at this moment. Plus, 1GB ram is around RM50, so ur actually getting RM1879, which is pretty ok . Dont regret, enjoy ur white.

Apparently some of the forumer said that it will be available somtime in September but be prepare to fork out another 300/400 ringgit for that. If you ask me, not worth it man.

i have been going back and forward...rounding the Computer War booth for so many times. till the sale people also don't want to see me anymore. (i got the MSI promoter's email... )

i keep on asking them question and asking them for bargain of the MSI Wind U100. hahahahaa....

but too bad, till the time i go back, and have cleared my mind to get the BLACK U100....they all said to me loud loud... SOLD OUT!!

i ask them don't play la. i am serious this time buying. they said is really sold out. i insist to ask them to double check the stock....and CONFIRMED is SOLD OUT.

i like wanted to wack my balls that time. *&^%$#@!
so they ask me to consider taking the WHITE U100. and i say no money.
and i asked them to give me better deal. they said cannot.

i then go lunch, and met up my friend on the way back to KL Convention Center. he said he also late, cannot get the BLACK U100. and he brought the WHITE from Computer War too.

he was in the PC Fair on Friday too. and he said only Computer War got the stock. the rest no stock, and to do booking. and the rest is parallel import. i think what he said is correct.

then i go back to get myself the WHITE U100. i negotiate with them, tell them i don't want all the free gifts, no mouse..etc.

finally, here is what i got from them.

MSI U100 White + Total 2GB RAM + Ori Win XP Home (OEM)
RM1899+RM40 (no additional charge for credit card)

again you can flash your bios to latest version .106 . download those file at MSI official website

AHCI bios mose you can disable it .

Press on DEL using boot up . in the bios mod go to advance and AHCI is in there . Make sure you disable it when you doing installation for XP

flashing bios is very easy

-things you need is USB < with windows 98 start up files to boot up into cnd line to run the file
-the latest version for bios from MSI
-and your MSI wind


if you need to steps i can write it down but you can get the tutorial from msiwind.net

MSI products arent of bad quality . They have good reputation worldwide in other products. If the hinge breaks, its more of a design flaw rather than manufacturing quality. But im not saying it could break. Im just worried it might, based on my own judgement because of the narrow hinge design. I've tested the unit, and the build quality is actually very good . As good as the Asus.

is the wind size portable to carry around??? i am still thinking which one to get - wind, 901 or 1000h....

Both the 10" and 8.9" form factors like the Wind, 901 and 1000H is compact enough to carry around. The 10" form factors like the Wind and 1000H only has more comfortable keyboard and larger screen. Because of the overall larger chassis required, you can now fit in a larger capacity HDD which is sweet.

i think getting wind will be the better choice..

coz it uses the standard 2.5" sata mounting... so in the future.. i could just swap with a SSD when its cheaper enough

Yeah, they aren't real SSD. Its more like a hybrid. Like what Gigabyte started last year through a product called Smart RAM or something maybe iDISK. Its essentially a RAM module sustained by battery power and operate over PCI/PCI-E. ASUS only put in several flash ICs into a PCB and interface it through PCI-E. This one is slower. Its internal 4GB SSD is soldered and interface directly to the ICH which is faster.

Get the chassis that can support the common 2.5" form factor. Eee PC 901s can only accommodate 1.8" which could be more expensive and not widely use.

this is the second reason I prefer MSI Wind. (1st priority reason, the heat & noise )
