http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/f...n&s=dhs#connectSeems like Dell is letting us taste some of the XPS they offer in the US? What do you think? Anyone ordered? Personally I think it's not the best bang for the buck..

well for me the price is kinda expected d since it's a branded desktop. specs-wise i think what they're offering isn't bad at all. core 2 quad, 2gb ram, 500gb hard disk. i think it would be good for those who go for branded desktops.

service charge, extended warraty, software (os) and etc make this thing cost higher than DIY pc.
most noobs wif money will go this pc (IMO). for those who know how to assemble pc and etc will go DIY pc coz can get better hardware wif same price.

I think so too. Some of us will want to avoid the hassle of assembling themselves and would pay a premium. Of course, you can't get Dell service outside.

If you are refering to 730 , it's has a very good price with it.
There are few things which is why they charge for this price.
Warranty / Services
ATX design (upgradeable)
Casing Design and casing material (Anodized aluminum)
H2C Hybrid Liquid Cooling (For overclock)
Depends on user , some prefer DIY while some prefer buying a whole set.
All of it the important part is Warranty and service.

The H2C cooling seems promising and looks great....

XPS 730 seem to use 45nm quad processor... Q9300 onwards to QX9650. Maybe there could be user which prefer to call and ask if possible to have that system with Q6600?

i like the 730's casing. thats it, otherwise a custom rig would trash it for price.
but the warranty.....

May 11 2008, 11:46 PM
In order to justify the price, i have to take alook at the real CASING before purchase. But that cant be done, because dell only sells online.

Eh DDR3. Didn't see that in the main XPS section. Only shows up when I choose to customize. Information error I guess.
I think the 730 casing looks more of a XPS casing than 420 at least. Only that I didn't get to choose my color. Still brushed aluminum.

yeah correct, midvalley got another dell store at the IT center. just saw it that day. it's pretty small tho for a dell store. hidden almost at the back of the IT center.

quote price at dell.com.my for XPS 730 is RM7,999 >>>
http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/p...dhs1&l=en&s=dhshmmm but i prefer the old XPS 720 & 710 casing design
G_KeN
Nov 18 2008, 06:48 PM
yes, i also prefer the old 720 H2O casing than this one.. with that specs, it would cost ONLY 1/3 of the stated price.. but hey, if u have the money, there's nothing wrong buying it.. i mean, their service is excellent, long term warranty, descent spec.

actually after visiting the US dell website and compare with AP dell website i concluded that US dell dump their old technology to 3rd world country.
it's a sorry sight to see how uncustomizable our AP websites compare with US. wanted to buy the lappy but after seeing what they are offering i gave up on the idea.
